Dear All,

I recently bought a 96 Discovery Tdi LHD and the alarm immobilizer is not working, everything is opened through the key. Upon checking the Landy has a "spider" black box underneath the radio and my local indy found out that there was a direct line from the ignition to the starter, in short the previous owner bypassed the alarm immobilizer system.

Pls advice on the ff:

1. Should I restore the original alarm immobilizer system? Wiring diagram? Spider problem solution?

...Is it worth the trouble or...

2. Install an aftermarket alarm? Would it affect anything in the car?

My purpose here is for security reasons where an alarm immobilizer system is a local must and that my key is about to break from opening and closing the door lock.

Thank you very much

Get a new key cut for it. Wd40 the locks. My alarm was the same and im looking at fitting an aftermarket kit as the landrover 1 is stupidly complicated so seems easier to fit a new alarm and central locking kit
