I'm doing Morocco in September / October :)

It's brilliant, really can't fault it. As I said it's a lot lighter than every other roof tent I have seen which is obviously a big deal when it comes to putting stuff on the roof.

I compared it with a friends hannibal which would have been my second choice and I much preferred the myway evolution, it's much better for UK camping because it made of Oxford nylon not canvas, so it's properly waterproof and UV proof and also won't go mouldy even if stored damp.

Normally nylon tents you have the issue of condensation but this has a vent in the top and the flysheet (which is fixed) has a 3 inch gap between that and the inner tent which means no condensation and makes it much quieter in the wind too.

I really I am sold mate, I think it's the best out there.. But as with all tents not worth the money for a new one.. the base model is £1400  I paid £590 for mine on the bay and it's mint.

MyWay Roof Tents (UK): ROOF TENTS: EVOLUTION: Myway nylon expedition roof tent

Cheers. Id been considering a howling moon. But i always go with instinct and there website isnt upto much and you cant make out the photos etc. If you cant sell me the product on a website thats free then im sure as hell not going to make the effort to search for good reviews.

Like you said the consensus on the myway tents is the lightness and the suitability to the UK as there not canvas. Id have thought canvas better in the rain though.

this is the one ive been looking at on the bay - MyWay Evolution Roof Tent Includes Serengeti Awning & Patriot Roof Bars | eBay

BIG THANK YOU TO ADRIAN FLUX

Our friendly Ed has managed to talk his management into providing us with a Coleman Event shelter for the trip to Morocco to give us LandyZone folk a nice dry / sun free place to sit, drink (smuggled in) beer and generally pass the evenings by in the desert.

We may be touting A/F for a while as a thank you :)

Although as I already have 3 policies with them not too sure how much more i can do for them... :p

Thanks Ed!

I'm already insured with them. Just gotta ring up nearer the time to check if I need any extra cover etc. :)

Good work though, Ed. Much appreciated.

It was a pleasure, supporting our customers in ways apart from just insurance is always something ill strive for whilst I'm doing this job. What better thing to support than a group of enthusiasts using their specialist vehicles for the reason they were built!

Also, with a military up bringing I learnt one important fact of life, beer must be kept in the shade, and I can't have you guys going without that necessity :p.

It will also provide Landyzone with a shelter for future events they attend benefiting the whole forum (those that attend the events of course) in the long run.

Enjoy your weekend,

Ed

right, glad thats cleared up.

Well it's not realy cos the thing still did'nt start  Had completely flattened my main battery useing my 110 at an event as a mobile sound system. I pressed link batteries the next morning (it was -4) and still was not having it, did'nt mess about just dragged the old girl off down the field and she bumped off first time.

For me the wire that is supplied in the kit's is not sufficient to start jumping from one battery to the other !

Guys,

I remember one of you mentioned Jerry cans at the pub meet, who can get hold of them?

Do you reckon its worth waiting until Billing to get me roof tent? I know which one I'm after now (Howling Moon) so just want to make sure I get it for a decent price.

Cheers,

Glenn

Right guys... under body protection.... do i bother with any and if i do, do i go the whole hog, tank, transmission and sump? It's expensive kit for the D3 - £750 upwards for the full lot :s

I would do transmission and sump for sure as a rock could fook up a good trip. And have a epoxy kit for fuel tank.

Maybe brake lines and a few fittings, or you could fold a broke line in half and solider it shut. But where do you draw the line for what to bring for spares?

I would say 750 is pretty cheap considering the trip is 650 + ferry etc. think of the cost of getting a recovered motor home + missing the trip should it happen on our first day!! In short my answer is yes :) I just got rid of a full kit for my D4 its still at mine though, would that fit?

Bump, thinking about it 700 isn’t bad for the lot. I paid around 1200 quid for all of mine. it was back when the D4 first came out (well 2010) so I guess maybe things where more expensive then but 700 seems reasonable. I had the whole set up on mine, steering, tank, trans and wishbone covers.

The D4 kit should fit... how much are you selling it for....?

£700 was an estimate, i've not priced it up as one, just looked at parts... i'll go price it up properly.

Edit: £800 ex. vat as i forgot the wishbone protection...

I can get standard MOD ones for free, not in amazing nick or anything but have only ever been used to store diesel. Can't get too many but if you can wait until we go to Wales or if I see you before then I can give you a couple each.

Fitting the second fuel tank today, the second spare wheel bonnet mount kit and high lift jack mounting kit tomorrow and then if I have time I have a 40 litre flat water tank which I am going to fit to the bottom of the roof rack. Then pay n play Sunday as a reward for my hard work :D

Just after 2 each mate, that's for me and Chris so four in total. I'm still debating this fuel tank scenario.
