Im Back!

After a haggard start in the world of LR, when I purchased a one owner P38 2.5TD, and everything went from bad to worse, I cured my pain, simply, I sold it!!!
Now Im back, I have ordered a Defender 2.2 tdci Hard Top, delivery in October, I am so looking forward to it!

Any thing I should be aware of?

Well, you see, the problem with that is.. i own one. I don't know how you did NOT gather that from my profile pic...... 5 month restoration on it, and, no i did not find anything to be too much of a pain in the arse, and i had to cut off/mend half the bloody chassis. Can't believe you got a like on that comment.

read the original thread carefully. He owned and sold a P38. He then bought a defender. Your profile pic shows a 110 not a p38 range rover.

Yup ...the original thread was very clear to me. Though the profile picture looks like a 90 to me... hey-ho.

You may well be right about the pic. I lost interest as i looked at it ;-0

I understood what Mick was on about, PF asked the question and Mick answered it. What was difficult about that?

And if we're really pedantic, it's a Land Rover Ninety.

i didnt even know they were a thing :O I just thought defender based on 2.5td

I really like the look of P38's, always have. However, like many out of the LR/RR stable they probably have problems, I just don't know what they are. Do they have more than a Defender?

I had one and the suspension collapsed in the first week. Sorted right away by putting it on springs. problems starting when hot, but there is a fix. Apart from that, i loved it.

P38's infamous for electrical gremlins and air suspension problems. Probably caused by lack of maintenance etc, but they have a lot of electrical systems to go wrong.

Im using my p38 everyday to do 150 miles. One of the most reliable cars I have had to date! Brilliant wee thing.
If you put it on coils you should be shot.

Now I understand your love of gun control over there. Thanks to your laws, coil sprung Range Rover drivers are allowed to live.

Ninety/One Ten were made from about 83, first few had 2.25 petrol or diesel engines, same as S3. Quickly enlarged to 2.5, na. petrol and then followed by the much loved 2.5td. Some were also fitted with v8s.
Defender name was first used about 1991, I think, and all Defenders had Tdi, at least for the civvy market. Think the military hung on to 2.5na for a while, but I have never had much to do with military landrovers.
Personally I dislike the Defender name, although they are good vehicles. For nearly fifty years a Land Rover was a Land Rover, and only needed a wheelbase to diffentiate the diferent models. Think it is a shame this tradition was discontinued.
