Right thought after sorting ny old issuises .id be bk in the driving seat ..(how wrong was i)
Started fine set off .driving down motorwaysteady 65mph
Sudern power loss.just like igition was switched off .the vechical will crank .just wont start.(also green m and s lights flash )
2hours later recoveryed back . No engine manage light .No heater coil showning .no fuel pump prime.can i carnt read anything from ecu .checked all fuses.relays under bonnet and in car . Im getting ready for burning it .
Just had ecu checked which is fine ..possibly thinking bcu .possible immo fault ? ( anyone who solves it theres a drink in it for you)

Pull all of the main relays out and make sure they are good and the contacts are all clean. Plug them in and out a few times to clean the socket connectors then use a smear of vaseline on the contacts. Mine does that every year or so and its always been one of the relays in the underseat locker with the ECU on my Defender.

Ive replaced the complete fusebox from the wifes d2 tbh .made no differnce tbh shifty cheers for reply .looking like a trip to dealers with it tbh

immobiliser wont let it crank neither... which fusebox did you replace?, i presume the interior one didnt you;) ...if it's so check fuse F1 and the main relay(R9) in the engine bay fusebox, swap it with R8(heated screen) for test ... unless you swapped the engine bay fusebox from you wife's D2 do what Shifty said but in this one...(good advice)

dont go to dealers yet...if you have RAVE i'll assist you with some measurements to try to figure it out

Aready changed both fuses boxs all intior lights work engine will crank but wont fire .
If i remove reply cap the fuel pump with run .but still wont start .ie no ecu power to the following glowplug coil light.engine management light .no ecu data from diagnostic plug .no can bus from the ecu to the gearbox

try with the other ECU(unless it's not manual)...you dont need to code the injectors just for test, you need only to sync the immobiliser code with the BCU

ive had ecu test tested as also meantioned above andhasnt any problems, I did just pug it into mine soon as igiton was swited on everything light up fine and fuel pump primed ,, so I know its not the ecu its a more of a possible power fault to the ecu , but as wireing isn't my strong point im assure which pins I need to check

im assume a possible power of switched live which feeds the glowplug relay, engine engine ecu and which would switch fuel pump on all seems very possible a live /switched live . 3 hours today of checkings earths with no fault found there ( bloody too cold fingers were blue had to come in and grab a cup of tea

the glowplug relay has nothing to do with the warning lamp, what i observed is that the feed for all these elements, MIL, glowplug lamp and fuel pump relay are coming from the ECM black plug pins 5, 6, 30 (30 is "abeam" 5, 6) if you have RAVE i'll tell you how to check continuity to instruments and fuel pump relay... check the black plug and the ECM pins around the middle and give contact spray

I did spray these with contact cleaner tbh , ill check which pins show live on the black plug ,ps whats abeam mean (not heard of the term before)

erm u mean the contector shape ?? ship shape :rolleyes:ps just shot outside -2 ochh , weres the pin numbers carnt see any?

that's why i asked you about RAVE, cos if you have one i can just tell you where to look, it's not very easy for me to copy/paste the upload many pics...see the attachment for now;)

ive got rave , just having a read of understanding , but its not quit sinking in tbh ,,,:( ive got the rough idea of earths, relays ,aprox locations , its the colours wireing layour with the letters and numbers tbh

ie heres a rough idea from rave , u see the glow plug heater shows the heater glows then goes to a contector , but only shows opsite 12v feed into fusebox , im assuming the other feed is a switched live (possibly not showing on the heater relay?? ie as theres no power ,ie so it isn't switching the relay on , to show a glow plug light (could be totally wrong , just trying to explain basicly

ok it seems you can manage with it...if you want to figure out the glowplug warning lamp or any other warning lamp's behaviour watch the "instruments" diagram;) ...you'll see that the relay has nothing to do with the warning lamp, and for your cranking but not starting issue not the starting and charging diagram is relevant but the engine management diagram

or you can read the description and operation in electrical library:
Glow plug warning lamp (Td5 vehicles only)
The glow plug warning lamp is connected from pin C0233-12 on the instrument
pack to pin C0658-30 of the ECM on an BY wire.

insist on it cos you are heading toward the good path:)
