Ignition key code & EKA

Guys,
Just been down to land rover in basingstoke (who were very helpful) and got my EKA code, But he also gave me the Ignition key code, they are
EKA "CABR"
IKC "7109"

Has he got these round the right way, as everywhere ive read the EKA is a 4 digit number
also where is the "CARB" bit used, is this something i need to note in the car somwhere or is it specialist??

Hi,
Here is a quote from another forum but not sure where "R" would come into it.
"As far as i know the EKA code has four numbers. These numbers are hexadecimal!! Numbers 0 to 9 are 0 to 9 and characters A to F represent numbers 10 to 15"
Hexadecimal Decimal

0 = 0
1 = 1
2 = 2
3 = 3
4 = 4
5 = 5
6 = 6
7 = 7
8 = 8
9 = 9
A = 10
B = 11
C = 12
D = 13
E = 14
F = 15

Is there a member near to you with a Nanocom Evo who can read the actual numbers?

That's deffinitely not the EKA code.... as about tha IKC: it's useless , LR employee's incompetence strikes again

Er sorry guys, 1st one was bloody predictive txt on my phone,it should read CABF,
the second one was driver error and my fat fingers+ not reading what i had typed

and should read 7108

so if you still speaking to me my EKA code 12, 10, 11, 15 is that correct

is the IKC still junk

That would be the correct interpretation of the EKA.
Under the circumstances, I would advise that you find somebody with a Nanocom and change it to something easier to use. Don't forget to document any changes you make.

If you only have one key and then unfortunately loose it, the only way you will get a replacement cut is with the code and the bit of hassle doing it, thats why there is code number.
Not an issue if you have two keys.

I've never seen an EKA made of 4 letters, usually it's 2 digits and 2 letters or 3 digits 1 letter....though if it's CABF it can be hexedecimal so not impossible to be the right one, very hard to be inserted this way so as said find somebody with nanocom and change it into a combination of small numbers

OK Thanks guys, will try and find someone if a nanocom, if not then Neilly did offer his servicves so might take him up on that as i have another key that needs coding (im sure he will regret it)
