ignition - how do i get there?

hi there, how do i get to the (ive forgotten what its called) the bit where you put the key in, i want to see if there are any loose wires on the back of it (because i've checked all other wiring and its ok) but cant figure out how to get at it, ive taken the instrument panel off and still cant see how to get at it! also on the earth strap that comes off the solenoid to the chassis the metal washer type thing that goes onto the solenoid is a little loose and so isnt holding the strap very tightly,does this have to be very tight in order for it to work? sorry about the vagueness of this thread it seems the cold doesnt only affect my landy but me too!

is it a series 3? if so you have to take the cowling around the steering column off which covers the ignition barrell
