OK, before we start, I know all the ones about they are all supposed to do that and it's just them marking their territory!

I have an ex-RAF 2.5 litre diesel N/A 90 rag top and it loves to drip. The black oil I know is engine and is possibly from the sump gasket or the drain plug. I did put a new washer on when I last changed it.

My main concern is the red fluid and should I be topping it up. Whatever it is!

When I go in the cab and take the casing off that surrounds the gearstick, on the drivers side there is an oval shaped section that seems to be the source of this leak and it looks like it has a copper gasket underneath it. Could this be it, where do I top it up and is it just a case of undoing the bolts and sticking a new gasket on.

Cheers

Filler plug is up the side of the gearbox. I'm not sure if it is a hex head or take a 3/8" square. It should not be hard to find and it would be best to fill it using a 1l bottle with a plastic hose on. I filled the gearbox on my TD5 in the week and managed to spill and considerable amount using a funnel.

I've only ever changed oils on TDi and TD5. The TDi was a few years ago and I can't remember any particular dramas or how I got the plug out so apologies for the inaccurate info.

Spot on, can see the filler/drain plugs up on the gearbox. Do I just use EP90 transmission fluid?
Plus, the bit I mentioned under the case where the gearstick is, a kinda oval section just down from the base of the gearstick (should take a pic shouldn't I !!!) that it appears to be leaking from with a copper gasket under it, any ideas?

No, it's to thick

Ep80/90 in your transfer box/axles and swivels

ATF fluid (red) in your main gear box - dextron II spec I think but do a search

ATF in your PAS

DOT4 in your brakes /clutch

And NON-OAT (so blue) coolant in your rad
