Hi Guys,

I'm looking for some help.

I want to buy someone a birthday present of a model of their landrover defender but I want to check I'm getting the correct model.

They have what I understand to be a Landrover defender series 3 1982.

Is this a replica of what's is in the picture above:

I'm a little thrown by the word "lightweight" in the title.

If you have better locations to buy a model I'd love to hear them also.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks Gmacz - appreciate that - saved me getting the wrong model.

I'm struggling to find the right one online - I've spent a good while looking on Google before posting here. However, I'll keep looking and hopefully one will show up.

Cheers

A Series is NOT a Defender.... so, but it's really annoying when people refer to past models as Defenders.

The Land Rover Series IIa and III are very similar. The Series II looks essentially the same as well, but the headlights are in a different place.

The trouble is, there are very few Series III models available at present. You'll find lots of Series I's and Defenders, but not a huge amount inbetween. Good luck in your search.

Only one I have seen in green is the living daylights series 3 from James bond. Yours is a hardtop with windows fitted by someone.

The one your looking for is a short wheel base or 88.

Thanks guys - no joy yet but I appreciate the help and I'll keep searching. I'm not sure I'll be able to get the exact model with the windows etc.

Try Oxford diecast, they do a large range of Land Rover models. Your pic is of a Series 3 short wheelbase hardtop.
They didn't do one. I've been looking for a small S3 88 model to put on the dash in mine, but no joy. Apart from the James Bond one mentioned above, but that has a plastic man stuck to the back of it too.
