nah, its for having the sidelights on when yer driving,some daft conception landrover came up with a few years ago

is it a dim-dip ballast resistor - for them furrin countries where yer ave ter ave yer lights on in broad daylight.

Well if this is the part It's only £11 Mail Order 4x4 Defender Lamps
However I'm not sure I need it.
I just connected the battery put the ignition on and my lights now turn on and off.
Only 1 headlight comes on with high beam though, but I'm sure this part isn't actually needed.

Aye I'd go along with everyone else, I'm that kind ov bloke. Anyhow it's the voltage reducer fer yer dip beam, when you put yer sidelights on it automaticly turns yer dip beam on at a reduced voltage. Mines never worked since I bought it. It was a marvelous idea these people that run the country had years ago then after a few months decided it want a good idea after all so you don't leegly need it.
