Iffit it were your parcel delivered today and yer naybor took it in, would you be happy if they left it unnatended on yer door step after 2 days or threated to bin it? Tis a bit harsh. You open up a legal can of wurms if yer bin it. Or get yer window smashed. Depends on how yer naybor reacts. Tis not worf starting a fight over it.
I just said "I'd be tempted".

I'm not that harsh, as I think you know.

Hi

No because I’ve gone over to a smart water meter so indeed will only pay for what I use
Aha, so this is for WATER!!
Thought it were energy.
We've been on a water meter for ages and pay far, far less than we used to. It ain't SMART either. So in fact your water bills still seem high. But then we are away with it switched off for 6 months.

Well by chance the neebs sent me an hemail on other stuff, I told them the score and they came back on again, all sheepeish and embarrassed, agreeing that they should have discussed it and .....

wait for it.......

an apology! (Shock Horror).

So maybe one day relations will be resumed.
The explanation they gave was that they were worried about the weeping willow rubbing against "dead trees" and they thought it would appreciate the light.

So a pile of bullpoop, but at least it didn't fire up a full on row.

W still not happy though.

Plus we are having the devil's own job paying for the blasted pork products. RBS refuses point blank to send any bank transfers overseas, our French bank account won't take phonecalls after midday and online banking with them tells me that my account is not of sufficient ...whatever... to be able to make transfers.

So I have had to grovel, apologise and ask them to send us a PayPal invoice or accept a cheque, or a payment over the phone by debit or credit card. They seem to be super-busy at the moment. So still awaiting delivery and an answer to the last 3 emails.

Just heard that son and family are descending on us next week. He is worried about his mum, understandably, as she really is not well, so they will have to take us as they find us.
Still sun is shining!
Have a good rest of the day folks!

Correction to previous post, I did say "or I'd get rid of it", but this was dependent on the delivery company's reply.

Hi mate

Many thks , must confess I’ve also got a smart elec and gas meters ,

The guy who fitted the water meter said they will be able to read it automatically, there’s a small battery pack as well fitted a few inches away

Was nervous at first having all smart meters but see they use radio waves and not connected to my internet in any way

Fingers crossed over time my bills will drop even lower

Hope ur good mate

I am taking back my lick, as you have edited your post to dots :p

Cheeky sod! I'm the one in the fambly who is willing to do online banking, I have it for both my/our 3 accounts with Nationwide and also the Frog Britline account. But this is the first time I have tried to pay by bank transfer outside the UK.

W won't do online banking as having been an international IT auditor she knows all too much about how easy these things are to hack. She spent a lot of time catching them and preventing companies like Toyota Financial Services, and the BIG 4 banks from getting hacked, both from the outside and from their own employees.

Yet she is the one with the PayPal account.

If this carries on I'll have to quietly look at that Revolut thing! (Shhh!)

Quite right too, I made a semi-booboo and corrected it, so no point in leaving it up there. I don't deserve to be licked for that!

Yep fine thanks!
We are all smart energy meters as we are away so much. But the Water meter aint smart yet, they still have to come and read it. Which reminds me I should have told them to come and read it as they balance the readings on the bills which isn't exactly right. Last year they tried to charge me more for water used during the summer as opposed to the previous winter, the price went up about the time we left.
I pointed this out to them and they refunded the about £2 they owed us! They expect water consumption to be high during the summer as peeps water their gardings. But ours is off! If the meter was smart it would be a lot less hassle.

Trouble is most everything is online these days. I understand the caution.

I would say they work well for us, we both have personal accounts and a joint. We have virtually stopped using our BG account.
Moving money to diff currencies is seamless (on a smart phone can be done on the move :))
Not all the eggs in 1 basket but a great card to have when travelling for sure, Well so far for us anyway.

Oh and they give an online virtual 1 use card, so it cant be used again;)

Hi

Ahh water. Well [<- see what I did there?] that's different. My water charges are about a grand a year for water and sewage combined. We have no water meter, and the wife waters all the garden all Summer as we are on a flat rate according to rateable value. :D

Eye need a sheet of 8x4 foot 18mm mdf wood. Eye need it to stay perfectly flat for me project. Said wood will travel on me roof rack at 30mph max to stop it bending int wind.

Me roof rack is two bars that travel side to side. Eye has some 70x44mm 9 foot lengths of straight timber to put on said roof rack to support the mdf sheet. They will be 2.5 foot apart and parallel. Eye will also put 3 lengths of timber between the parallel lengths, to make a 3 rung ladder shape. One int middle and the others 3 foot away from said middle.

Does we fink this is enough support to try to keep me mdf sheet flat? Should eye put more supports across the middle to make more ladder rungs.

This might be the biggest issue ------
