When eye asked ovo energy when me old non smart meter economy 7 hours were the checky sod told me i would have to get a smart meter to find oot. He put the fone down when eye were part way through me reply wiv personal insults and a round of f's. Searched the web to find oot about it. Then in more recent times spottid me electricity meter has a small sticker saying SSC 151 01:30 - 07:30 which eye hadn't noticed before. Yesdi eye came up wiv a plan to gerrup early to test it. Eye took a meter reading before putting me washing machine on at 7am smornin. Was going to be 6am but eye stayed in bed. When looking at me meter its displaying the night time economy 7 reading wiv a number 2 flashing to the left ovvit. Eye normally read it during the non economy 7 hours so its displays a 1 and the day time reading. Got yer. That proves me meter is currently in economy 7 mode. Eye is finking eye can check me hours by watching said leccy meter.

Stood at the bottom if me garden fer 20 mins yesdi at about 10pm. Din't see my hedgehog but eye has only seen him once. Showed me nayber a pic and he ses its smaller than the one he normally catches on his wildlife camera. So hopefully we has more of them. When eye gets me feeding box setup eye hope it will attract them more. Only seen 1 so far in nearly 5 years.
 
Me leccy meter added a unit to economy 7 count. :)
It stayed on e7 night reading past 07:30 so eye guessed it was running bst british summer time instead of gmt greenwich mean time. If yer keep pressing the blue button it also displays the time and date. Time is 35 minutes slow. Searching the web it ses they stay on gmt so it means me clock is 35 minutes slow. So me e7 time should be 01:30 - 07:30 but probably 02:05 - 08:05 because of the slow clock. Eye can live wiv that. Going to get meslf another timer plug so eye can put fings on charge automatically during e7 time when eye us er sheep. So far eye has been charging batteries, me drill, fones and wuk laptop during non e7 hours. Not anymore.

All Frogs have off-peak times, easy enough to test, if you have a switch that only puts summat on when its gone to off peak. As soon as it comes on you know it'll be like that for 7 hours min. In our case we has three heating cirtcuits on it so I can tell from when the light comes on if it's on. But we also has 3 'our delays on DW and W machine so can set them up to come on smack in the middle of the night when they are deffo on off-peak.

Oh and over 'ere it's 8 hours. In our case 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
To read our meter I'd have to walk half a mile each way!

How I stuck it 34 years beats me. (But it was a bit easier when I first started.)
W tells me there are 7.5 k unfilled vacancies.
If you can't control 'em you can't teach 'em.
And if you try to control 'em their parents come down on you like a ton of horse manure, or worse.

Was at a Greg Davies gig once, He used to be a teacher as you prolly knew. He and i had a bit of a convo after he shouted out, "Any teachers in the audience?" (You should have heard the collective intake of breath when he asked what I taught (French) and how long I'd been doing it (30 years).;)
After the interval he came back on and said "Stan, you still 'ere?"
"Yup"
"I've been talking to some of your erstwhile students, apparently you used to throw chalk? RESPECT!"

(I once bounced a bit of a kid's head that stuck in a ceiling tile!:dance: All taken in good form, never painful.)
But it was wooden board dusters when I was kid, you learned to pay attention!;)

We had a gym/sports teacher who was a prop forward for Gloucester. As it was a private school he lived on the premises.
His cottage was right next to the gym. He was a right lazy ... person. Often he didn't even turn up for lessons.
One day we were in the gym, a small group didn't even get changed they were playing cards in the changing room. He actually turned up and flew into a rage. He got them all into the gym and lined them up near the climbing ropes. He also shouted at me to join them as I had been playing basketball and had thrown the ball into the storage area rather than walk it over.
We all got 6 enormous belts across our backsides with a climbing rope.
He once also confiscated my guitar that another kid had pinched and was playing and disturbing his class. Nothing to do with me. Kept it for a month. So punished me and not the miscreant.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::rocket::rocket::rocket::rocket::rocket:

When I was teaching, our games teacher and I chatted about this bloke cos he knew him, he was by then some kind of big wig in kids rugby and he said "He's coming over here next week do you want to see him?" At first I said "OK" then I got hold of him again and told him not to bother as I wouldn't be able to stop myself telling him what I though of him.
Funnily he was the only teacher I had that I really couldn't stand.

I went to a comprehensive school. It was rough and the pupils and teachers were all hard. If you didn't get caned then you were a swat and got beaten up. I hated school and all teachers. I do have a skewed view of the teaching profession. It made me who I am though, I got all my qualifications after school through night school and college courses etc. If it would do any good and they were still alive, I would have some of them sent down! Those who advocate corporal punishment obviously didn't get the beatings we did.
