Knowing how rally cars are built and the trauma prevention methods employed, as far as what the crews have to wear, I am always a bit surprised when this happens.
But if you fly off the track and hit a tree... well, they take no prisoners.
Thankfully this is still rare. But this takes nothing away from the sadness of this incident.
RIP Dai Roberts.
My thoughts are with his family and friends. :(:(:(

Why on earth would I make such a connection? I have never heard if it!!!

I haven't read every flipping book in the world, not even War and Peace or the Kama Sutra, despite a Gfriend bringing her copy round one day and leaving it under the bed until we split up!

Maybe you have read all of Sartre's plays. How did you enjoy "les Sequestrés d' Altona?" I didn't!

I jest of course, but it is good to be taught stuff by other members.

Maybe we should start a book club! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

She was very serious when it came to bedroom antics. War and Peace she would not have had to have brought round as I already had a copy. And when it comes to the bedroom all it would have been any good for would have been as a soporific!

My stars you have done some research.
I will now equal you on that and see what on earth the lovely Sophia was doing in an obcure film about an obscure play.
Although I studied Existentialism for my degree and had to read many books and plays by Sartre, amongst others, I took it upon myself to read every play he wrote. Most were very "approachable" and ideed explained his philosophy better than his actual, writings on philosphy which were so obscure that we instead read books about him, by Mary Warnock etc, to gain more clarification.

But Les Sequestrés was so obscure that any film made about it must have been a massive oversimplification. So now I am wondering if I can get a copy with subtitles. As I do not Parliamo Italiano! Hmm!

and yes, Sophia Loren....What a dish!!!:):):):)

Here is a little poem "wot I rote".

There is no cause for alarm. I had a brief black dog moment the other day that had me sink rather low for a brief time; and it made me reflect on how we are conditioned to respond to such moods and I thought it might strike a chord with some folks (dark, morbid and schmaltzy though this little verse might be).

A BLACK DOGGEREL
When you want to cry but it’s not allowed; you mustn’t stand out from the crowd.
So set your jaw and shoulders square, don’t let on that you despair.
Don’t let them see that you’re feeling down, just don a smile and not a frown.
When life is getting on your tits, and you want to start just smashing bits.
Remember that this is just today, and it won’t always be this way.
So, suck it up and carry on; this day will pass and soon be gone.

I was surprised to be contacted by so many people I know when I published this and I had to explain that I was actually OK and that it was just my interpretation of how blokes are typically conditioned to respond to feeling down and not that I was now in any real difficulty.

But I thought I would share it here too, because many of the messages I got were acknowledgements of similar vibes/feelings and there was absolutely shed-loads of moral support.

My misses had a pink jag, never seen another one the same colour. She lost it in a multistorey carpark. 🤣 🤣

I had a girlfriend in Lille who owned a white Renault 4. They were so common that she had the sense to stencil a small but easily visible design around the radio aerial just above the windscreen, made it much easier to find in a car park.
Pity your missus if she goes on a cross channel ferry.
Sooo many peeps don't even know what deck they are on!! ;););)

My dad suffered with "mental health issues" all his life after his fiancée died, from TB possibly contracted from him, when he didn't even know he had it.
I once came back from holiday to find he was in a mental hospital.
The docs there told him to not think beyond the next cup of tea.
And when I got close to a nervous breakdown, (over a gurl, of course) I applied that thinking, plus other stuff, just to be able to get through the day and carry on working etc as if nothing bad was going on.

So yep, I know exactly where you are coming from. And heavily sympathise if you still get "Black dog". No fun, mate.
