... that I realise why this is only the second outing for my "Ceramic Egg BBQ/Smoker".
It is such a faff getting the darned thing to light, then to stabilise the temperature.
Open the lid to turn the meat and your temp goes out of the window. Nowhere near as convenient as a gas BBQ.
There is, however, something very primal about real fire-cooked food.
BUT... The wood-smoked meat is very tasty. Shame the tin-box with wood-chips on the gas BBQ isn't quite as good at the "smoked" angle really.
Best BBQ'd meat I have ever had was cooked on steel skewers over a roaring wood fire at some place in Madeira.

Must have cost a packet. We don't actually use many racks, we mostly just stack the boxes in "use by" order, but so a variation is reasonably accessible, by vigneron. It is supposed to be a guest bedroom but now the grandkids, well 2/3 of them, are grown up and don't come with their mums and dads, and the other two kip in the family's campervan, we use it as a cellar. North east corner, window facing north so the coolest room in the house.

I'm tempted to try and work out roughly how many botts are in this picture to kind of do a comparison, but then I have stuff to do, unless you know?! ;)

Anyway once entered on the pooter I'll be able to work out how many we've got so we know how many to buy when we go buying first week in Sep.

You know the salt level is less than human tears so it isn’t gonna hurt the plants.

with the cover on overnight you will retain it better, with it on during a sunny day you will warm it quicker, win win. It’s a large bulk of heat once up there, I covered the pool late other night as weather was orribble and as the air temp was cool I could feel the heat from the water (temp diff I know but it’s there)

Yes chlorine but as it’s levels are low it wouldn’t hurt, and it’s chlorine gas which is slightly different to the tablets that give off chlorine, but the chlorinator runs a more constant level so you don’t get the ups n downs of levels or the smell ;)
That’s our understanding anyway.

Bottom line if you are not in it cover it:).

I know this is a long way back down the thread but you did ask me to report back and here tis.
A/ it keeps the pool a lot cleaner cos lickle beasties and leaves etc don't drop in and the little bits of dust that get through the lickle oles in the tiop cover just sit on the bubble wrap which can be easily washed off as it's rolled up once in a while so that REALLY is a win.
B/ it works well if we leave it on in warm weather and only take it off to swim, or if we take it off with the other one when the hot sun really gets on it.
C/ It does retain heat better over night, as you'd expect.
D/ the skimmer, i.e the outlet that takes water to a depth of about 4-5 inches still runs takes any surface stuff off and of courses circulates the warmer water while the outlet at the bottom takes out the cooler water, so it is always uniform in temp, top to bottom.

So overall a good buy. ;)

Been going back through the reactions to my posts as they are now classified into what sort you get, which is quite a laugh. Seeing who gives you the most 🤣 for instance, which is how I found this among many of @kevstar's 🤣 reactions!
I do like being able to give 5 different reactions although sometimes you get a :mad: cos of what you have said, other times it is cos of what you have posted about. So can be a little confusing.
 
When in the name of all that is sacred are car manufacturers going to fit some sort of an emergency system so people trapped in a car in water can actooly get out of the flipping thing?

I know but he is right, this isn't in AG so we have to be very careful as lickle kiddies can read it.
You must have noticed me fighting to keep clean and using words like "flipping" and "barstaff" which are not at all normal for me!!
Even mispelled swear words are still easily worked out.
We don't want the thread to be cancelled, and we have been told more than once I think as there are some right sheep stealers who would like this to happen.

And I still get angrys off @Hippo too, so you ain't the only one! ;)
 
We is norra-loud to swear on the forum ootside of AG. Has been a rule fer over 15 years. When the swear filter came in, the forum was warned not to try to bypass it. Tis nowt new. We is all aware ovvit.

Bypassing the swear f!lter by obv!$cating wurds anit aloud. Poor spellin ov swar wurds to bypass said filter anit alowed anorl. Changing the text colour or type to bypass the swear filter aint alowed. Some peeps need to w*** up to this.

Historically norty wurds was used. Norranymore. Mod and admin can still see swear wurds even if the swear filter blocks em oot like ****. So dun't take the **** by calling one ov them a ******, ootside of AG, as they can still see it if it were a norty wurd.

But but but... BUT!!!

My made up word isn't even a word!! And even the icklist anklebiters know what you mean when you say flip.. or frig.. they'll call you out anorl
