Took my brother to pick up a car today.
Garage gave him a receipt and the green new keeper slip
Then said he wouldn't be informing the DVLA until the end of the month !!
I said that it should be done right away but he insisted that he had been doing the job 30 years and always waited till the end of the month.

I pointed out that he really should inform DVLA right away but he was adamant .

So brother cant have his V5 in his name until the new year

Eh ?? Ive never heard of anyone doing that.

Todays happenings..........

Done half the chaps shed, my mate only threw one roll in so a wee job to finish on monday.

Done a bit on the landy....front and rear diffs in both front hubs on front prop on then I have

With the green slip I think he can notify the DVLA. Looks as if the old boy running the garage is working in a previous century. but your bruv has to tax it straightaway. He'd best get on wiv it.;)

He taxed it last week with the number off the green slip, he's not well up on these things so just let the garage do the V5.

Can't think of a reason why the garage would not want to cnange the keeper until Jan 22

If it's taxed he hasn't got a problem. there is enough evidence to prove when he bought the vehicle.
I am beginning to think this is a tax fiddle on the part of the the garage owner, obvs he'd make a profit on each sale and it is this that he will be taxed on. If he can say he sold the car on a different date from the one he actually did then there may be a reason for it like he is trying to avoid paying tax on the sale in the month or year in which the sale took place. He prolly only passes papers on to his accountant once a month. This may be what he is referring to. I am not an accountant so I have no idea, but this is the olny thing that makes any sort of sense to me, and that isn't much sense at all!!!

Surely he had a bill of sale with the date on it, so I cant see how this works.

Did mention the speeding tickets he wasn't worried, got bill of sale but L didn't examine it as it's none of my business really.

I said to my brother as he was filling V5 out with his address, you'll have a new V5 by next week, man said no because he doesn't send them off till the months end, I said surely the change of keeper should be now because of tickets etc, he said you're wrong just leave it there I've been doing this thirty years etc etc .
