they do, just not on your laning trips. Also most freelander owners don't want to go laning.

Wrong wrong wrong. Off road/on road Defender 90/10 disco 50/50 range rover 10/90. Freelander was built by bmw to celebrate bmw buying land rover and to go up against the likes of the jimny for younger drivers who wanted to hang out at the beach and drive a normal sized vehicle. The fact it was a land rover it came with an amount of offroad ability. I also believe but dont quote me on this that the prototype freelander was 2wd.

wrong

snow covered roads in winter, muddy fields for many various reasons.
it may not have occurred to you but most people don't go off-roading for the shear hell of doing it.

Why have a Land Rover then :confused::confused:

Wonder if a Freelander would tow my 510 & two horses out of a muddy field

Oh no, just remembered, they dont have the towing capacity for a horse trailer :p:p:p:p

the disco sits inbetween the defender and the freelander, if you work on a farm have a defender, if you want a car with excellent off-road ability have a freelander, why have a disco?[/QUOTE]

You sure that's where they sit ?
I thought it went something like

Land Rover
Range Rover
Then the Discovery came along to slot in between as an all rounder.
Then the Gaylander came along for mobile Hairdressers.
Hell I've even seen the stickers you can get for the back of them saying "No Scissors left in this vehicle overnight" :p
