I want a L322, But need Help !!!!!

Hello All,

I have had a few Land rover's, in fact quite a few.

But now Really want a L322, and I am going into this knowing they have issues, but hey that's part of Land rover ownership.

Can you tell me what are the big things to look out for ????

I have picked up on the gearbox issues, and I am guessing that if its not been done by 100k then its going to need one soon?

Is there anything else, or has somebody done a buying guide?

Any assistance will help me in hopefully buying a nice car, not a Monday morning special, or Friday afternoon dog.

try having a browse through the threads on this site, theres a couple of good buying guides around on here, plus lots of info from the many clever member on here !

the search will bring up what ever you need :)

Getting late in the evening to re-write most things I have said on the L322 - a search will be most expediant...

but a brief synopsis of where to look for issues...

Start at the Front Bumper finish at the Rear Bumper and everything you see in between will give you a potential issue!

:D:D:D

Rear Quarter leaks onto the electronics bay
Gearboxes esp. the TD6 fitted with the GM box
EAS issues with valve blocks sticking
Pressure switch in the EAS Tank
Broken Steering adjustment motors
Fuel Pumps
Rads
Water Pumps
ABS Sensors
Various really annoying electrical faults that are so intermittant you can never pin point them...
 
Saint Maybe you should get one of your write ups made a sticky......................... with an addit at the bottom directing them to the search function :rolleyes: ;)

Seems to me they are just like any other Land Rover, obviously have there own niggles.

But if you go into ownership expecting something to fail, its not a surprise when it does.

every car has it faults a lot of people on here only join because of a fault so not a true gauge of what the car is like, but from talking to peeps you either get a good one or a pig. So buying one you need to have a reserve to keep it on the road when new it's a 50 grand car (JUST AN EXAMPLE) 10 12 25 Years old it's parts will still be for a 50 grand car no matter what the actual price of car is. This is the same with any make or model of car ;)
 
To be fair after having the following I should know better,

1 x 90 200 TDI
1 x 110 TD5 County
2 x Disco 2's
2 x Disco 300 TDI's
1 x Disco 200 TDI

But hey I like a challenge lol

+1 - A Range Rover is a different kettle of fish to the LR's in your list....atleast you are prepared for a few 'upsets' :D

The L322 is simply awesome, aslong as you can DIY your own repairs and get your own diagnostics device to sort the electrical annoyances, it will save you a fortune...

Deep pockets required for L322 ownership...when one Air Strut costs more then the whole set for the P38, or £400 for an Alternator the bills can add up...
 
I guess I am lucky as I have my own unit, two post commercial lift, all the tools, and a very good snap on fault code reader.

My day job is selling MX5's (don't take the ****) they are very good cars.

So the fixing it is not an issue, and in terms of mileage my unit is only 1.5 miles from the house, so I don't do big miles either.

Maybe a petrol is the way to go.:cool::cool:
 
Just a quick one, the prices seem all over the place.

Anything from £5000 upwards,

Some of the ones on (the well known auction site) are dreaming thinking they are going to get good money for cars with no Service History.

Surely nobody in there right mind would buy one without a FSH ??

Maybe its just me being picky, but after years of learning the hard way

You realise, if you are in a hurry to buy,

Its going to cost you.
