I phoned up Devon 4x4 yesterday and for about £55 (ouch!) they can get me a rebuild kit and the two extra gaskets I need.
I stripped the carb jets and float valve yesterday and they look perfect?
Anyhow if I can't get the old girl running with the kit I will let you know.
Paul.

No worries pal I had a look earlier for the carb couldnt find it, I hope I havent thrown it out as I had
a big clear out months ago. I will have another look. ;)
Cheers Kev

Haha, it's not the Volvo driver...it's the carburettor OCD in me. No idea where it comes from, have always had a "thing..." about perfect condition and balanced carbs and fuel combustion o_O Re' the Volvo, her name was Agatha, a 2 door Amazon with original Golde full length canvas sunroof and 360deg quarter lights. By time I'd worked on her two years she went like a dingbat, always pulled a crowd and was such a lovely thing

About 25 years ago there used to be a chap with a mint white Amazon with gold wheels driving around Evesham. He clearly had more money than sense because it turned out to be a guy whose house i knew from driving past on the way to and from work. I only knew it because of the cars he'd have parked outside slowly rotting away uncovered. he Volvo appeared outside and slowly turned green. At one point he had not one, but TWO Renault 5 Maxi Turbos, the mid engined ones.

Aren't ALL petrol cars metal fuel tanks? I thought only diesel can have plastic.
As I understand it the ethanol is a solvent which is also hydroscopic. So not only does ethanol have the ability to disolve most materials the fuel system is made of, it also causes condensation in fuel tanks leading to corrosion!
I remember a similar problem with bio diesel years back disolving old fuel lines and clogging injectors and pumps.
