yo yo fashizzle dawg, big up ma homies....

or in English, good morning... :D

Names Dave, live in North East Lincs, active with RAYNET and Lincolnshire 4x4 Response. Currently drive a Vauxhall Frontera which is a reasonably decent truck off road before anyone makes a remark lol.

I've just picked up a 300 Disco with an MOT failure for stupid money. I had a Disco MPi for a while but went back to a Frontera SWB but i really need a bigger vehicle.

It's an M reg, white Auto TD, 146k on the clock, bypassed immobiliser (i know this as it was me that bypassed it!).

MOT Failure sheets as thus...

001 Nearside rear seat belt achorage prescribed area excessively corroded.
002 Offside rear shock absorber serious fluid leak
003 Offside front tyre dead
004 Nearside front tyre dead
005 Nearside front axle swivel joint has excessive play in a swivel pin
006 Offside front axle swivel joint has excessive play in a swivel pin
007 Parking break efficency below requirements (14% apparantly)

Advisory items include

008 Offside rear crossmember corroded
009 nearside rear crossmember corroded near body mounting
010 Offside front hub leaking oil
011 Offside under sill corroded
012 Nearside front inner wing corroded near body mounting...

sooo couple of questions,

for 005/6 what the smeg is a swivel pin and are the easy to replace?

I didn't think they could test the parking brake on a landrover...?

Is it worth spending the money on the repair work?

I am reasonably competant with spanners and can swear in at least two languages. I also have mates who can weld.

Hi Ho
It would seem that you have little work to do to make the Disco pass the test.
Swivel pins are also known as king pins and it's where the front wheels turn from. 2 pins, 2 bearings, 4 bolts and some shims, each side. And a small spring balance to set the preload. Cheap as chips.
As for the corroded rear seat belt mountings: take out the seat. No seat, no requirement for seat belt mountings. Worked for me.
