I got the new switch for the boot,
It looks well made, I got this black one also comes in like a stainless steel, looks well made, and is apparently waterproof, it has a nice positive action when you press the button, I just hope it fits, but it looks about right, BUT I have a problem, as you all know I am **** at electrics, so I am hoping that all the wires are there already to just swap the leads.... I shouldn't buy electrical products as I don't have a clue, but I like them lol I think the light light up when you press the button as well

I take it that 2 quids worth of piano wire and a bit of waterproof grease and maybe a new rubber seal did not appeal then. :D

That's what I did a few years ago, didn't stop the button freezing solid parked outside in winter. then the micro switch failed and I couldn't see paying JLR's price for a new switch.

A twenty five pence spring and a ten pence O'ring for fifteen quid seems a little over the top. :D:D
Exactly what I was thinking, I would sort my own repair parts out and do it, as I have a spare as I changed mine for a chrome one cheep from a scrapper I will have a play.

When the button played up on my p38 couple of years ago while I had the panel off I piggy backed off the wiring to another push button I fitted under the right hand side parcel shelf support so if needed I could reach over from the back seat to open the boot.

I bought a new LR one from island about a year ago and it's failed already. I got it cheap as they gave me a discount code in compensation for a screwed up order but was still 35 quid and now dead again.
Works sometimes if you bash it hard enough!
