Well, I have recently not felt like a proper P38 owner due to the fact that the old girl running well and not giving any proplems ( except the directional instability, but that's in hand ) until the weekend when it seems I have a 48 hr battery drain issue !!! I thought for sometime that my wagon may have been special, but it would seem not. A quick check using information gathered here confirmed that she was being kept awake by something in the neighbourhood. 2 minutes in the back, the aerials disconnected and she's now sleeping like a baby. Good times !!!

Welcome to the club....:welcome2:

Haha! My boss has a very well behaved P38, suspicioulsy well behaved in fact - either he doesn't tell me about the problems, or he's very lucky! He also has a big house with a big drive, so the neighbours are quite far away, limiting the chance of aerial interference I guess!

What actually happens then? How does it get 'kept awake' via the becm and aerial??

Wireless internet is on the same frequency as the 'old' Rf receivers, so the BECM keeps getting woken up thinking it is receiving a signal, as far as I am aware it does not open & close the doors locks though........just played havoc with becm and with my lights, kept putting the hazard lights on (without blinking though)and draining the battery, then it actually changed the settings so that instead of the indicators flashing when locking/unlocking the car it changed the mode so that the side lights flashed....... just unplugged the BECM blue wire and all problems went away.....:)

That sounds really, really odd! The interference I can understand, but changing the settings?? Very strange! One to watch out for then!

The BECM hears a signal and thinks something good is going to happen, so it gets out of bed puts the kettle on and waits...... Then no one gets in and starts her up so she goes back to sleep, but hang on, theres that signal again... I better put the kettle on.. and so on..... bottom line is the BECM never gets to sleep properly and continues to draw a lot of current flattening the battery.
