Morning all,

Is hylomar Blue suitable for use in sealing diffs or should I use a silicone sealant like FixtPro?

Thanks, Bee

Used it for years but only as a paper gasket sealer. Can be used on its own but i would use it on the diff pan only with a gasket.

As said above great on gaskets, Ive never used it on its own, which isnt to say it cant be.

Hylomars designed use is for metal to metal gasket less joining of jet engine components. So providing the components are flat it is perfectly suitable for gasket less jointing. Providing it is used correctly. Apply to both surfaces to be joined and spread evenly. Allow thirty minutes for solvent to evaporate. Mate items and finger nip all fasteners. Then torque up fasteners. If to be used were one component is formed from pressed steel, ensure surface is as flat as possible without large undulations, after initial application and solvent dry apply a small bead to one surface prior to mating of components. Finger nip all fasteners wait fifteen minutes and torque up.
