Hi peeps,

Asking for my son, does anyone know how to remove the hydro mount on a 1.8 04 plate Freelander.
can remove the bracket attached to the engine but unable to remove the Hydro mount from the bodywork.

You may have to use a chisel to tap it round if it is tight, that is unless you have the special tool as below.

Like Arctic said, tap it round with a hammer and chisel. I have removed one by locking 2 nuts together on the top thread and unscrewing the mount. This technique obviously won't work on a mount that has split apart.

Thanks, Is it possible to buy/hire that tool?

The tool is quite expensive hiring one I do not know, but another way you can try is, instead of the removal tool that it is possible to back up two M12 nuts together and undo it that way, if not then remove it using a large punch/drift or drive-through chisel against the raised 'castelled' parts on the base, and then hammer it round anti-clockwise. A bit of penetrating fluid squirted around the base of the mount half an hour beforehand may help things along.

Thanks, I thought about 2 12mm nuts but then remembered years ago I had a stud remover, found one on Amazon and it arrived yesterday. My son is going to try it today. Fingers crossed.
