Yesterday I heard a slight humming noise within the cab of my Disco 3. I dont know where its coming from but I can hear it. It sounds like the noise when you have the rear window slightly open you get that hum. I have no loss of power, no juddering on steering wheel, no lights on dash.

This morning I didnt hear it, then this evening when driving it did it again. I cant hear it when the car is static and on idle. Also you cant hear the noise when driving and the window wide open.

It's bugging me! Anyone else had this?

Thanks

LB, thank you, hopefully tomorrow my local garage will have time to put her on the ramp and check what you suspect.

Slight update:

The low humming, wup wup sound I have found occurs minutes after I take off then goes after 2/3 minutes, and may start again a few miles later. Doesnt happen all the time.

Took it to the garage, however mechanic was too busy to put her on the ramp but suspects could be wheel bearing. Booked in for Monday morning.

Good luck, hope it's not too expensive. Thanks for the update, keep us posted.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't it change the feel of your brakes???

From humming to grinding noise. The morning I heard metal to metal it went into the garage, so didn't get the chance to tell. All I can tell you is the grinding noise remained whilst moving and once brakes engaged the noise got louder.

That indicates a lack of maintenance as the pads should have been replaced long before, therefore the pistons are not exposed to the elements and therefore don't seize up.

These vehicles need pro-active maintenance if you want to avoid humming noises !
