huge electrical problems / becm ?

I think i have communicated with him more over last week !! than his wife !!!! so fingers crossed . Cheers for all the advice and help , i guess thats why we buy and love these bloody machines .
 
And the grief goes on !!!! Got my becm back from mr irish , plugged it in and charged the battery fully . Everything back to working as should , windows , wipers , lights etc ... BUT now my problem is with ignition key on i dont get any engine lights on the dash at all , message gearbox fault shows , no central locking , no locking off the remote either , buttons on doors only open or lock door they are on . Tried key re sync etc , un plugged battery , pluged back on . No click from starter , only light click from becm .No lights on dash in box under speedo at all , check engine lights etc , not showing .Fuse box under bonnet visualy looks fine , relays fuses look fine , Also says odometer problem , buti am informe that will clear on start up and driving etc . So any bright ideas ?? PLEASE been off the road now for 4 weeks !!!!!

are you 100% sure that your battery is ok,this is one of the biggest probs with a p38.
 
battery reads good on a tester , windows all go up and down at good speed withought interior lights dimming etc , so i guess i am thinking its ok . i have noticed that a swith on the dash is lit thatnever used to be , and it wont go out on depressing it . Is in th row of suspension switches , round circle with a chevron in it ... sort of ... i have coil springs fitted years ago with an eas overide modulefitted by the becm . It seems like it is immobilised in some form , all wires look ok no corrosion , key fobs not working , central locking not working , half dash lights not coming on at ignition turning , and reading gearbox fault , and transmission in neutral reading....
 
ave you checked the multi plugs that are behind the kick panels in the foot well, basically behind the trim that holds the bonnet pull, the harness behind there connects between the becm and the air con, instruments, ignition etc etc, it is another common problem of water leaking in from the pollen filter housing and straight onto the connector block and corrodes the connections, i have replace both sides on mine, a bit fiddley but vital for all the connections.
 
if i was to change the under bonnet fuse box !!!! As i gather should be done , and could solve alot of headaches etc ... where can i get one from cheapish !!!!! OR does anyone with half a knowledgable brain on p38 live near soutampton ?????? i sort of think seeing and being there is believing with my truck .... and would gladly pay for time ...

if i was you i would not touch it and get in touch with irish and see what he has to say over it.
 
I have wd40 plugs then contact cleaned and blown out with air and dried , cant see any corrosion or damage . light around ignition is lit , is just complet;y dead on tuning to start . Not even a wiff of power to engine , starter etc ,
 
talked to irish for a couple of hours over today ,, i think he has given up with me .. bless him . I have just fitted his renewal becm , so should plug and play as told . Obviously it has cleared up 95% of my electrical previous problems , but not starting is pretty much as bad as it gets

I have just fitted a new under bonnet fuse box, it has cured a few other faults, there are about three different variations on the fuse box, i got mine from the dealer £148, excluding the relays, this was cheaper than any where else i could find and its a genine landrover part.
i was going to get a second hand one but you never know if it going to be wright, or on its way out.
the bonus of Landrover is i gave them the chassis number and he gave me the part number that it should be, they got it in two days.:)
 
download rave and look at the wiring diagrams, got to be something simple.

i think you need a rovacom on it to see what is going on with it.put a plea out on the forum.;)
 
plea !!!!! AM ON MY HANDS AND KNEES HERE !!!!!!!! Southampton based bag of ****e range rover in need of URGENT attention by man with a plan ,, or some diagnostic equipment etc . Dont be fooled by its looks !!!
