thats really great, this is going to be ace when finished!!

Cheers - Hoping to have it 95% done and driving about by the end of the weekend. Got a few guys working on it now, doing the roof lining, relining the rear bench and doing some welding on the roof rack (old Pajero roof rack that I am widening and extending).

Been offered a Puma Bonet in great nick for about £250 - I'm tempted, you guys think it will make it look better?

Or should I buy something more useful - like seatbelts?!!

Decided not to put a puma bonnet on. I forgot I take mine out into the bush and spend a lot of time climbing about on it - just got excited about doing things to her (the landy).

Last few days have been frustrating - I have got a bloke doing the roof lining and redoing the door cards. Thats basically all I have left to do, also got a bloke putting a rear wheel holder bit on the rear door as I have removed the old two door wheel frame thing.

Both started work on saturday but have not made much progress since. Other small jobs like new locking mechanisms, window rubbers, roof hatch hinges and rear bench lining have still to be done.

Will try to get a decent camera down the next day or so to show you all what shes looking like... if I dont say so myself its looking really nice. Especially with the clear lights and new grill. Smart!!

Snorkel problem, guys I am trying to finish the 'trim' today... The mushroom top head of my snorkel is like an inch too big for the pipe below. Clearly missing a bit. How can I bodge it on? No one here has the part except for a whole new snorkel - any ideas??

I am very nearly there. But getting it 100% done is taking a bit of time. I put some of the left over checker plate on the front and back of the roof rack - Think it looks good, but need to make somewhere that I can tie rope to the front and back now.

Little jobs that still need doing:
- Rear window handles need purchasing and fitting
- Door cars need to be fitted better
- the bulkhead that the rear benches sit on are no even close to being symetrical so the back benches look really odd as one sticks out
- repaint the floor as it wasnt wire brushed and you can feel the surface rust
- Took it for a drive last night and theres a short circuit somewhere causing it the injector to play up - got a leccy doing that today.
- I have put clear indicator/brake lights on her and put the wrong colour blubs int eh wrong places
- paint touch up, I managed to put three or four decent scratches in the car when fitting the roof rack and hatches so need to do a little respray in a few places. ETA - 3 days?

Took her out for a little drive today, still some final teething problems, back benches are not equal and need fitting - doors cards, vents, door handels etc.

Photos don't do it justice as the drive to my house meant shes covered in dust. Got a nice shine usually! But would appreciate your thoughts:

TERRIBLE NEWS: CYLINDER HEAD FOOOKED

So I drove my newly refurbed landy into the bush this weekend - about 8 hours from Nairobi (a good weekend to be away for those of you who read the news).

She drove like a dream no issues at all then on Sunday - 20 miles form home the temp gauged popped to the top of the sensor, I thought it was an air pocked so spent the next half hour throwing water in and letting it drain direct from the head. No Luck.

Eventually get her towed home - im very sad about that. Had a look at the cylinder head today, its all bent and has already been skimmed. Time for a new one. over here they are £600 for ****part.

I have mates coming over later this week so If I am quick I can get them to bring me a new head. But I need some help!

£290 is about my budget (prefer £250ish)....
These I have seen on ebay can someone tell me whats good whats not or which you would buy!?

p.s thoroughly ****ed off.

So I have fitted another recon head, and shes running fine, but HOT! The temp gaguge stays below cold for the first 10 mins of driving then pops to about 60% then (after any little hill) goes to about 85% on the gauge.

I am going to replace the gauge today and see if that makes a difference - had my rad professionally cleaned also. So just wondering what else could be causing her to be so damn hot all the time?! Lets hope its the gauge!
