Finally my bits got into Kenya and I picked them up last week. Unfortunately one of the windows on the rear side panels is smashed so that needs replacing -but not a big or expensive job really.

The 2nd doors arrived and i was interested to see there condition... this is what they looked like...

Quite rusty so I took them to the yard and got welding...

That was yesterdays work, and I am quite happy with how it has turned out, I still need to rub down the surface rust in other parts. Both 2nd row doors have been welded on.

That means that today we (I have got 3 guys helping with the labour)could start to strip the old girl down. I am aiming to have it finish in 10 days from today!!

here are some close ups of the doors pre-welding:

And yes you'll notice they are two different doors - but i'm not observant to notice which one I am taking pictures of! They where both as terrible as each other.

Panels/doors getting filled - starting to look like a landy again.

It was a pain to get the doors back on, few new hinges helped and new dust rubbers...

Top thread huffi,

Defender door hinges are handed, when I did Mine it took me ages to figure out the correct position;)

So the last few days have been a real pain. Turns out the car had been modified far more than previously thought. The Struts between the front and 2nd row doors were odd widths and heights. It meant I had to remove the roof again all the panels and doors and remove them. And get the grinder and welder out to get it all to fit and look normal again. I p*ssed off so forgot to take photos!

But after two days the car was ok and had the first coat of primer on. Almost paint time! Exciting!

For those that are interested I am painting it Keswick green with black checker plate and an MD4 strip down the side... although I have no idea what back to use...

Look forward to your thoughts!

First base layer of paint on now. Its a bit darker than I expected but have been told the final coats and the lacer that it will be Keswick green as described (I bought correct paint code).

Tried to take photos the last few days but africa has killed most of my gadgets. So I can only use the front facing camara off my phone.. so the pictures below are not great! But hopefully you can see that we are getting close!

Looking good. The transformation is impressive, I admire your determination with this project.

Out of interest, how is the chassis?

Chasis is fine. Had it checked and theres nothing to worry about under there, might because its generally dry here. But luckily its in good nick.

Took a better camera down today, got a bloke doing the roof lining and lining my bench to match the front seats. Should be ready in 4 or 5 days!
