How to stop water building up in the foot wells?

Hey chaps,

Its nothing serious but does tend to annoy me a tad.

Ive got all the Land Rover rubber lining all round my 90 but for some reason water continues to build up in both foot wells. Ive removed the foam which was logging most the water in.

Yet water is still collecting down there! It doesnt build up at all in the rear tub though, just in the damn footwells!

Its not enough water to warrent drilling a hole in the floor pans apart from that im out of ideas.

Anyone got any?

Drill a couple of holes to let the water out, sorted.

Keep in the garage and only let it out when it's not raining?

try and find where its coming in to start

haha didnt really expect anything less!

Just wondered if anyone had a simple solution. Dont think its even enough water to drain out unless I swiss chess the pans!

Im pretty sure its just condensation...

I get a small puddle in the passenger footwell if its that fine rain, if its absolutely tipping down, its dry as a bone

Wait until the weather gets colder, then you can trace the icicle on the inside to see where it's coming in from

Mine used to let water in through the door. Rainwater would run down the door glass, passed the weather strip and come out between the door frame and the door card.

Same here. Drizzle and the footwell floods...pouring and it's bone dry.

Totally insane, oddly built but have so much character that makes us love them so much.

Almost like an abusive spouse.

Common prob is the mainly porous seam in the footwell/wheel arch where all the crud blasts any rust protection and paint there might have been (probably through some production error) on the outside. Mine are more hole than metal.

All the usual suspects sell pre-formed weld-in plates, which are on my birthday list this year.

That should reduce the relative humidity in the interior to about 97% - major improvement. Then attack the waterfall over the passenger door in any sort of rain - I think Alpine window seal then pouring out of the internal gutter on the angle of the drive when parked, though the gap in the roof slope seam is in my sights too......

Then there's the obvious drip from the heater nozzle under the dash.....

Just a thought, would adding some closed cell foam stuck directly to the metal prevent/slow condensation?

The other thing to check is a perforated or split windscreen rubber seal.....

Windscreen is fine, I checked that the other day, it is a little cracked and old but no waters coming in.

On that subject how does one go about changing windscreen rubber?

I had a similar issue and traced it to the brackets on the bottom of the windscreen. I removed both and refitted with black silicone on both sides and now both front footwells dry. I looked at the brackets as a friend who has a defender had the same issue and did the same to resolve it. I have also seen a water ingress advice thing on the forum that suggested it as well, I will try and find it.
