Any solutions for water in the pick up bed?

I've searched the threads and the only other mention is someone looking to buy a toneau cover.

Without paying a wedge for one of those has anyone come up with a solution to rain water collecting in the back?

I won't always be garaging mine and it seems to pool at the front. Should I be concerned?

(Is it even called a pick up bed?? It sounds a bit saucy to me )

Some small drain holes?
Drill a small hole say 5mm, then drive a tapered punch into said hole to open it slightly but more importantly taper the opening downwards.

it's an alluminium floor, just check underneath so you miss the steel braces/struts.

I was going to suggest a .22 round in each corner as then the downward taper to the hole is already in place!

Good point, but in principle it seems do-able.

If it pools at the front when you park, park it the other way round.

It's pretty level here but I did consider running it up some ramps!

I parked the front of mine on a couple of breeze blocks, when I didn’t have the back covered.
They were about 4 inches thick, and I put a bit of 2” thick wood in front of that as a bit of a ramp.

Did just that on a mates old Mazda pickup who's footwells filled.

Land Rover have been selling pickups since the late 1940s.... and you think it is an issue nobody has thought of until now???

If it bothers you, swap a hard top on. Can't see the point in drilling holes, it'll never drain that way as the floor is flat.

I thought it was an issue someone must have thought through before, hence the question in this forum but I will be looking at some type of cover in the long term. My original thought was to fit a canvas top and I still might. In the meantime I have drilled two holes - one in each front corner and it worked albeit I had to wipe up a bit at the leading edge.

I drilled where the water would drop straight onto the ground missing all metal work (thanks @miktdish).

I was waiting for a while for one to come up for sale that I could afford. The rest of it is a bit "shabby chic" but it's just what I need - a daily runner that won't fall apart on me.

Week 1 and the novelty hasn't worn off yet!

Look for an ifor Williams rear cover that will keep water out & probably cheaper than a cover.

(under cover covers made us a cover which has the spare wheel covered & velco on to the canvas truck cab.on a series but they make to order)

Those holes are a waste of time imo. And just butcher your tub.

Think about it. If it was an issue, they have been building them for the past 70+ years. Don’t you think they might have changed the design…..
