So after breaking my son's windscreen and bearing in mind I've never dealt with a windscreen repair in my years of driving. 894€ for a new heated and tinted screen fitted at the local Renault garage.
The day after in the rain there is water in the foot wells....
?? So... We took it back to renault and pointed out the water ingress...
Two hours later a phone call "your sun roof is leaking into your car"
Really? It never leaked before and we had fixed the pollen filter leaks full stop. Yes, full stop.
So I absorb the fact that possibly the drains could have just blocked by coincidence or some of the old glue could have made it's way into a drain.
We went to the car and found the rear trim above the bumper had been dragged backwards and unclipped. Later finding a slight delve in the plastic where it has been caught on something.
The interior was covered in crap from the repair.
The rubber around the door and windscreen trim had been pulled away from the frame and left hanging.

We get home...
Of comes all the trim because I'm not having it...
Sunroof drains tested and clear.
The windscreen sill gutter was packed with glue from the old screen and was flooding the footwell and heater motor.
I continued to wet test the screen after clearing the gutter/s.
After climbing inside with the door shut and a torch in hand Elliott poured water onto the screen top while I peeled back the headlining above the screen and driiiiip...
I f*cking knew it....
Slam goes the bonnet, "Elliott get the tools out of the car and pull it out of the garage.... I was fuming, absolutely fuming...
I got into mine and stormed up there while poor Elliott is following behind.
Marches into the garage workshop and shakes my head in a rather unhappy fashion.
"its not the sunroof it's the screen"...
The young lad is convinced it's not the screen... My words were "get your self a torch and some water and come with me" .. The owner of the garage kind of squirms away...
We take the car around the back of the garage we're I tell him to get in shut the door while his colleague wets the screen down. Still doubting what I'm saying until it drips into his face. At this point I aggressively nudged his colleagues arm and said there you go. Voilà.
So,
A damaged trim,
A filthy interior,
A water soaked carpet, dash and heater motor.
A partly removed weather seal.
And a leaking 700€ heated f*cking screen... Am I right to be annoyed because tomorrow I'm going back to demand they either do the whole job properly or a refund.... And clean the interior, refit the seal they've pulled off and do something about the trim that's been damaged while the car was in their care...... Tell me if I'm wrong but there's a bastid reason why I don't trust any fecker else to do anything I can't do.... Mention insurance go on......:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::(

Oh dear.

I had something similar with my rrc new screen leaking at the top edge, only happened when it was raining and at speed.
The screen shop 'proved' it wasn't the screen and must be sunroof by holding a water hose at the top of the screen.. look, no leak.
Refused to put finger over the end and put some energy behind it!!
If it was the sunroof, it wouldn't come from under the windscreen seal and run down the screen, would it? It would leak all the time, wouldn't it?

Another happy customer, give them stick Mark.:D

Elliot rang them this morning to find out the result, they had resealed the top of the screen but hadn't tested it yet. We could collect if we wanted too, I said not until it's been tested and then tested while I'm there. I slept about three hours last night with the whole argument going around in my head.... I also drank half a bottle of sweet cherry (pinaud rouge) funk that was painful this morning doing that service....

I sympathise completely @Mark Piercy. I had the same issue with my pride & joy on the first time it "rained like the flood", one week after I bought it for an embarrassing amount of money.
First time the car had been out of the bastid dealers dry and warm showroom. BOOM! Footwell full of water. Dealer was very blasé about it and took it back claiming blocked pollen-filters and the like "a common problem, simply fixed sir".
Didn't fix it. The only thing that fixed it was an entirely new screen properly fitted (at the sellers expense) and a great deal of to-ing an fro-ing.:mad::mad:
It has been good as gold since in that regard, it is just all the other bits and pieces ;-)
Mind you, it isn't like a Freelander. The doors have not fallen off yet. ;)

The same thing happened with my S type it had cracked in a freeze we had, right across the screen I sent in in for a new Screen luckily on the insurance, after a week of rain the dash and floor were soaked, fuming wasn't the word..

Took it back and was greeted with there is nothing wrong with the screen "sir" it wasn't until I got in and managed to push the entire screen out with my hand, that they concluded there had been a mistake

It is France did you expect customer service?

You know what, in every repair I make to a client's car I will lose time making sure they don't have to query the repair because "that'll do never does"...
As someone who has had the rear screen of my old company car replaced 4 times by Autoglass because they couldn’t line it up properly with the roof or the rear pillars you have my sympathy. Don’t let it distract you from doing what you do to the best of your ability even if your struggling to have faith in fellow tradesmen.
Owning a Range Rover seams to leave us searching for perfection amid the “unsolved challenges” of these modern classics.
Tricky. :)

After all the grief the water ingress, the crap all over the dash and resealed again..... They cut the screen off the car and resealed it à second time. Time will tell if they got it right.... I've no faith in anyone but myself and even that's not without a second guess...
Fingers crossed and thanks for the support peeps. :D

Yes, have faith and give yourself a good grilling after a spot of DIY. Together with the hair-shirt and P38 ownership you've a reasonable chance at the pearly gates ... Unless you've been hanging with holidaychicken and tomcat, then you're going straight downstairs.
