How to prevent rear door from swing shut?

The safari door on my 110 is now refurbished (lock barrel replaced, window refitted and sealed to prevent leaks, wiper and washer fault diagnosed and repaired, striker adjusted, metal treated, etc) but the door keeps swinging shut in the wind or the Landy is tilting the wrong way, which is made worse now I have the weight of the spare tyre on the door.

Has anyone devised some sort of latch mechanism to prevent this happening? I'm looking for ideas to lock the door in position from the inside when it's open rather than going round to the outside of the door to latch it into position, although suggestions either way would be appreciated.

I would consider fitting it at the top instead as would have thought it would get knocked a bit loading and unloading.

The current plan is to attach a metal swing arm to the lower outside of the door. The door swings open, then the vertical bolt at the end of the swingarm (which rolls along a horizontal runner attached to the body beneath the rear window) will gravity drop into locking position. Pics will do a better job than my explanations really.
