Hi All

I did a search but couldn't find anything.
My 1999 L-series 5dr was running mondo mode since I got it and I finally got a propshaft and fitted it and I'm never going back to mondo mode ever again! :D

I want to change the IRD oil and Diff oil, where do I drain it and what oil do I use?

Thanks for all the Help!
Chris

The IRD is quite easy peasey use correct oil follow heinz manwell or rave destructions to the letter. . . .but rear diff is a reet pain, as yer have one fill level plug ,so to drain it either get it vacuumed out [garage job] or undo rear flange clean gasket un re seal then top up till it dribbles outa hole, put back bolt. . . . . .werd of Ming advice, before attempting any of above, make sure that all bolts can be undone first. . . . . .unlike Ming the userless, undid drain on Ird ,drained oil. . . .un could not undo filler bolt. . . .feckin gaylander bastid fing. . . . . . . . . . .   i'm orft ta pub:) :) :)

Guess I'll undo the filler plug first then :D

as Minge sez - follow instructiond to the letter - if you undo the wrong plug, yu can bugger your gearbox!.

i think instructions are in Q's and A's

Ref the IRD, is it recommended to change the oil after a certain mileage after fitting a new box or, if the level's ok, don't bother? Thinking about a 'running in' period where bearings will bed in.

Syntrax I used. . .75/90

Best way is to undo the sump nut from the bottom, for release. . .

If you get under the car, and feel for the top sump nut, its best to fill from the top using a clean hose. Won't do your back in that way or need a pump. You only need to fill about 1.5 litres.
