As long as it's just maintenance stuff, it's better to keep her. If you happy with the old girl, keep her going. Replacing her will cost more up front and could still need expensive maintenance.

thanks for the words of wisdom nodge at least another couple of years of ownership it is then :D

I've just done the same thing with my little '02 TD4 runabout.. was about to trade it up for a FL2 then realised there was no point.. I'll wait until it can't be mended no more now I reckon.. ;)

My '99 L Series is only just coming up to 100K miles but in our 4 years of ownership it has only had 4 problems .... me, ABS modulator, me and ABS modulator!

me 1 = not checking tyre pressures and blowing the transmission. me 2 = hearing impending doom with the engine so spending £500 getting belts with only 30K on them changed, but in actual fact there was nothing wrong in the first place.

So you never know, even with the mileage, there's a good chance if you fix the faults, you'll get many more reasonably problem free years out of it.

There again, it might not, but has it got much more depreciation left in it if you run it for another year or 2 to find out?

my wife's freelander is a 1998 with only 70 odd thousand on the clock it went through its last MOT with NO advisories she just had two problem lately one was the ignition wire coming of the starter so it would not start but a easy fix the other and we do not know why as it has not been touched was she broke the aerial it caught on the roof of her garage but again I fixed it with a smaller aerial .

sounds to me is all i need to keep the old girl going is a teddywood:D

we only bought ours on 140000! Just drove to the alps and back in her. Usually I get rid of cars when I am bored, they could almost always be kept on the road!

I would be concerned about it having had proper maintenance being done. regular oil/fitler changes, coolant replaced and flushed every 4 years or so, brakes etc. have seen some very low mileage vehicles that were a piece of ****.
