Driving the P38 at the weekend, backed out of a parking bay went for 1st gear lever all sloppy no go.....!!
Got it towed to workshop by the brother in law much to his amusment (bloody disco 2 owner)
check rave yesterday and then set to it today on the ramp
centre console out etc, looked in the top found the cure for one of my problems see link http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/r380-gearbox-116124.html
was a gap where the ball bearing should be on the right hand side (5th gear side)
but lever still attached, but very loose, consulted RAVE and followed the instructions for the remote selector removal. Got that off after some fiddling will take some pics and do a tutorial on it. Found a broken shaft on the other end of the selector shaft.
So phoned ashcrofts, shaft is about size of my little finger thread on one end
Ashcroft Transmissions - P38 Selector Pin
£28 for the shaft, which is expensive but hey ho
i then asked for the spring
Ashcroft Transmissions - P38 Detent Screws
£65 quid you are joking, i only need a spring that is broken ( need to find one similar i think)
going to see if i can get a shaft machined as well,
the girl at ashcrofts was most apologetic, said they were quite expensive, told her i was glad i had been sitting down
am still in bloody shock
only paid £125 for a 2nd hand auto box recently with a 3 month guarentee
pics to follow.
Anyone else done this job and if so where did you get thebits if they were cheaper.
Cheers
