Getting a bit of track here chaps.

It's not and has never been a case of listening to main stealers etc. I maintain my disco and have the previous 5 landy's I've had.

The reason for my asking is that I'm having the full monty re-map , intercooler, turbo boost etc carried out by TD5alive who recommended I do a full service to include a fully synthetic oil due to the increased loads / pressure on the engine.

The purpose of the thread was to see / discuss the advantages judged on peoples experience.

I only use my landy of a weekend and to tow our caravan. I have an oil change twice a year and full service once a year.

Any recommended oils that I can go and buy would be appreciated expecially from those who have modified their cars.

Check out the Oils on www.DIFFLOCK.com website, Ive just seviced my defender and discovery with there 5w/30 fully synthetic engine oils 15 Litres worked out at about 50 quid, quick delivery two. Also used their EVO 1 oil in the gearbox highly recommended

EVO 1 oil ??, I have seen this on Diff Locks site, would you say it is as good, or better than MTF94 (which I can't seem to find anywhere except from a LR dealer

I tried what I thought was a good substitute of the same SAE, and the gear change was so bad, especially when cold, that I had to drain it out the next day and put MTF 94 in

(I'm referring to a R380 5 speed obviously)

The gear change with Evo 1 in is noticably smoother than the oil which was in mine, its not cheap! but I think it is worth it, I put mineral gear oil in the Drop Box and diffs
