Which one's that Steve, the Shell just out of the High Street? I normally use the Sommerfield in East Peckham, but have been using just petrol for the last few weeks.. That one has probably gone over 70ppl now

These latest hikes are down to profiteering by the oil companies. The government doesn't get its extra until tomorrow when vat goes up!!
LPG is a by product of crude so will be hit by oil price inflation. What I don't understand is how for every 1% petrol and derv go up, LPG seems to go up by 5%, that has to be profiteering on a major scale!!

This is putting me off getting my 4x4 converted, it looking like it will make more sense to get rid of the V8 (when its refunded) and go back to diesel. The reason I have brought a V8 was to get it on gas,
3 months ago my local independant LPG supplier was 69.9ppl now it is 82.9.
i have now got 2no V8's on the drive, the broken RR and a Jeep GC 4.7V8, looking to sell both once RR is refunded by the trader who sold it me and do Diesel again.

The stupid thing is, 99% of people who use LPG don't NEED to use it- ie they can just run on petrol instead.. which is what I've been doing. As a result sales of LPG will go through the floor, demand drops due to people not bothering with it.. and a once-decent source of low cost fuel will disappear.

It's all down to greed as stated before. We were all encouraged to convert to lpg for it's "green" credentials.
My Range Rover does about 2mpg less on lpg than petrol so it still makes a saving. However, the way the garages are increasing the costs is profiteering at the expence of those who have taken the financial plunge to run greener and cheaper.
It's getting to the point that we will all either have to stick together and protest like the French did (Unlikely as company's and company car drivers dont give a hoot) or we roll over on our backs as we seem to do with everything these days and carry on paying until we cant afford to run the vehicles on any form of fuel. Knock on effect will be that the taxes clawed in from fuel and road tax etc will be lost and they'll tax us elsewhere to compensate for the loss of revenue.
I think that when no one stood up like the hauliers did at the last protest and carried on driving and paying the increased fuel charge the politicians looked and realsied that they can get away with an increase and the people will carry on regardless!
I reckon fuel theft (Already heating oil being stolen from tanks according to the news) will increase as will untaxed, un mot'd and un insured motors as people will want to keep the car but cant afford the additional costs involved around them.

Sadly I believe the reason the truckers don't do the rolling road blocks/ barricades like before is due to new police powers... stopping big groups, I believe justified under the anti-terrorism laws?

so is an lpg conversion on my 72 rrc (which I am keeping forever) not worth it now?
I only do about 4k miles a year and alot of that is round town.

If you already have the stuff, and are willing to do the conversion without pro help then I'd still go for it. If not, then for 4000k pa, I wouldn't bother..
On your '72 you'd also have to run an open-loop system.. the most basic system, kind of tweak and hope as far as tuning it goes lol. You could fit a lambda probe into one of the manifolds/ downpipes though. That would give better results and is what I'd do. Then you could run a half-sensible closed-loop system.
