Is it worth having ur chassis rust proofing for £350

depends? is it just a coating of underseal? if so yer can do it yer self fer £25
just jet wash the underside, check fer soundness , then slap it on with a spray gun or some paint brushes

just think .....£350 is half the price of a NEW galvanised chassis

well i brought my disco feb09 within weeks spent 750 on having all crank rebuilt after some muppet put a wood ruff key where it shouldnt of gone and it put timing out 4 and half times then to top it off all pulleys had new grooves where they shouldnt of been 750 later engine sweet as nut my fault for buying a landy when didnt know great deal about them but am learning now lol plus got new brake pads, discs, calipers on back at another 300 and copper pipes still got more to spend on rear cross member brackets rotten and got trouble with break fade so could be hell of alot more lol

I'm too tight too spend too much.
Everythings made from bed springs.
At least I have not got a beer can as an exhaust coupling though, I can see you smiling you know who you are.

had my last one a year it worked out at £1400, I could see further expense in the next year so I sold it.

The Wife thinks it cost me £300, Kin Hell, If she only found out..lol, And the great thing about working from home, I can hide my new parts when they get delivered without her ever knowing...lol

sorry been away on hols....As for spending on landys..HAHAHHAHAHA!!!! Someone very wise once said. "If you fret over spending on your Landy then you shouldnt own one".
To date on my Drag ( wot the missus calls it) about 4k. And all out of love & not a poxy investment or ****ty polished sitting in a garage !!

More than it's worth on the series but it arrived in the family the same year I was born. Nearly as much on the 110 and £350 on the Discovery and I havn't had it 3 weeks yet:eek:

The wifes x trail 30,000 miles and only had oil and filters but it ain't got a soul.

Bought it originally for £7k .. 55k on the clock and only 1 small mark on it, in '03. Six years on it's got 123k on it mileage and god only knows how much cash, and so many marks and tree scratches they're uncountable ... I have every receipt for even the smallest widget and originally had a spreadsheet, including oils, diesel etc but only kept it up for a year! (Lazy) ;) I still keep every receipt but it would take a long time to sort them out, I ain't an accountant, and ICBA .. ;)

I don't really care about the actual money spent, but to me it's worthwhile (obviously or I wouldn't do it) I spent more in the first two years (we had a full service including cambelt and all fluids etc and the following year had a new clutch fitted, No time, different job!) than any time since 'cos I now do everything to it myself rather than pay garage/dealer fees .. ;)

It's still sheaper than when I had a company car brand new every two years .. the tax saving covers that, though I wouldn't mind having the diesel payment card back .. )

I try not to think about how much I've spent on Land-Rovers, but I've spent far more on mountain bikes - it's possible to waste a lot of money buying shiney expensive lightweight bits that will snap after just a few months of abuse. The more money you spend the shorter the lifespan seems to be in my experience.
