Ok so after now passing the Mot want to sort out the gearbox oil as it really is a bugger going into second gear.
Would not surprise me one bit if the oil inside is 10 years old.

Going to get some mtf94 but wondering how much i need to change gearbox transfer box and diffs?

Cheers

Quantities can be found on the net easily, bit please don't put mtf in anything other than the gearbox, tranny and diffs are all ep90. 1.7 per diff and 2.something for the transfer box.

just to update the thread for future searches.

got carlube MTF94 from local motor spares. £34 for 4 x 1l bottles.

as posted previously but i will post again - UNDO THE FILLER PLUG FIRST. this is a T55 torx. i managed to do this comfortably with my 2 foot crack bar :)

the drain plug is 32mm, ou cannot fit a ratchet in but i did easilt fit in a socket on a crack bar which i find easier than a spanner.
laid on my back even with the 2 foot bar i coudlnt get it to budge so i stole an idea i read from another post which worked a treat.
place a jack under the crack bar/spanner and gently raise it allowing the car to use its own weight against the plug, hey presto crack and it went. piece of cake :)

I HATE THE SMELL OF GEARBOX OIL, MAKES ME GIP!!

As trax said the smith and allan is a better buy, i just couldnt wait on delivery though, bank holiday weekend and today was my only free day to do the change before going away this weekend so needed to get it in store.

further to my post though if you go for the litre options you only need 3 (about £8.50 each paddocks etc sell them also).
mine used about 2.5 litres in total.

the advantage of the l litre bottles is they come with the pull out squeezey spout.

i pull out the spout and attached 6-7 inches of standard black rubber hose/piping that you can get from any spares or a smallish bore hosepipe will do. attach one end to the spout and put the other end into the fill hole (it will go about 2 inch into the hole) then squeeze the bottle and the fluid goes straight in with no spills.
you can only get about 2/3 - 3/4 of the bottle in this way but i just opened the other 2 and refilled my bottle using them when it got 2/3 empty. within 5 mins it was nice and full and i had 1/2 litre remaining in my squeeze bottle.

lower the jack with the plug out still for a couple of minutes so you know the car is level and there isnt too much in, jack it back up and nip up the plug, not too tight.

with the 5 litre bottle you will need a syringe or some other way of getting the fluid in ans you cannot get above the fill hole to pour it in in anyway.

hope this helps
