I am a new land rover owner -- 1998 Defender 90 Tdi -- and new to this forum. I am actually in South Africa with the 90, although the experience of this forum is obviously transferable.
Could anyone advise or comment on how long one of these vehicles will last, if properly cared for?
The vehicle has 257,000KM and is a 1998. That is a lot of miles. But the purchase price was reasonable (less than £7000) and the car has come back from road worthyness testing without any serious problems.
A full service history is not available, but the two previous owners are known and have invested a good deal in upgrades which would probably indicate that they maintained it properly.
257,000 KM is a lot of mileage. How long will it last if cared for? I realise that the engine could also give at some point, but even with that, the cost of a new engine would be a price worth paying to keep it on the road.
So, experienced land rover owners and aficianados, how long would one expect one of these vehicles to continue for?

but all parts can be replaced relatively cheap and easily ,as gas been said
