So the FREELANDER V6 SE S/B A is the rarest Land Rover, with only 1 on the road... eat that series 1 owners :p

I wonder how many Series' are sat in sheds/barns/garages in various states of rebuild, destined to be returned to the road one day?

It may have been true some years ago, but that goverment scrapage scam put paid to many a good vehicle.[a mate saw loads of old landy's piled up in a yard somewhere near Leeds I think, with a notice on the gate saying No spares for sale don't ask.]

Wow that sounds ****, why weren't spares allowed to be sold? I wonder if well see the number of series vehicles on the road go up

There's that many parts being sold on ebay numbers have got to go down .
Sellers like 62caren , enterprise and defender boys seem to scrap a lot.
A few years back it was the landrover Orphanage that was top scrapper.

When the guy from Land Rover made the "70% still on the road" claim, the Discovery was still in its first incarnation, Range Rover had not long gone back on sale to the US, and the previous ten years had accounted for about 60% of total Land Rover vehicle sales. So it was a fairly easy claim to have made!

Yes, and probably still more or less valid now, they are churning out ewoks night and day, not to mention the many other models!

If it's the one on the Leeds Selby Road. The guy's an hoarder and won't let anything go.. Nowt to do with the scrappage. Can't see many peeps letting their fenders etc go to scrappage for half of what they could get by selling em on Ebay.

Some interesting stats there - it looks like the original diesel 90s have outlasted the early TDis. Could be related to the amount sold to the MOD originally, but they must be still out there somewhere (I have one - thus the interest). The chassis and axles are definitely made of better steel that my 1990 TDi.
Overall, it's striking how low the volumes are of recent models. I guess that's why the margins are so low, and why our beloved landys are coming to an end.
