How long (or how much£)to reconnect a 110 200tdi wiring loom

Hi can any one tell me roughly how long or how much it would cost to reconnect a wiring loom to a 110 200tdi?
It has been taken out for a bulkhead swap and the person cant reconnect it for me?!
its in Devon, I'm in Bristol so choices are pay someone to do it in situ or recover it and do it from home.

If the loom is in good order, there's not really that much to it. It could take the best part of a day though, mostly to connect the fiddly bits and renewing corroded connectors. Given the choice, I'd do it myself, although I am happy around older wiring schemes. Some wiring experience will help, as will printing out the wiring diagram from the manual on A3 paper.

What did he disconnect it with an hacksaw? A loom should be pretty easy to refit.

I was told that the connector for the dash was just spade connectors and there wasn't a plug??
Would any old auto electrician be able to fix it or am i best sticking with plan A and recovering it?

He seemed like he knew his stuff when he took it on. My mechanical ability stretches to an oil change, some UJ's and some new lights.

Depends what he's done or more importantly what some one did before him. I would start collecting wiring diagrams. An auto electrician should be able to sort it but it may take some time if it's a mess.

Is the dash back in? If so, you'd presume he's fitted the loom through the bulkhead and built the dash in around it. Then it is largely spade connectors to the binnacle terminals, speakers, radio etc. Knowing where the spade connectors go to in the binnacle will be the tricky thing, if it wasn't all labelled up when dismantled. I'm not keen on wiring schematics.

I would recover it and DIY.

it does bother me that the guy "won't" finish the job. Now, excepting medical emergencies and such, why not?? what has he done to your 110 which prevents him doing it ???

The loom is through the bulkhead, have asked if the Dash is on and if the engine loom is connected. i think its just the ignition / binnacle that's the problem.
was considering getting an auto electrician to go look but if anything else is borked ill have to pay to get it recovered anyway. Still thinking plan A pay for a tow / Tow truck and bring it back.

He was working with someone who did the electrics, they've parted company.
It's been down there for months, I've been patient, given him time enough to sort it out. But enough is enough. I took a couple of photos in the dark when I went down there after I couldn't get hold of him for ages. He had personal issues, which I understood but end of the day I'm paying for the bulkhead to be done along with doors and bonnet.
That was before Xmas.

Bring it home, if you have the space. You're in control then. If it turns out you can't do it yourself and end up getting someone in, then at least you can see what's happening/ being done.

Trailer hire is, what, about £50?

Assuming you can find a suitable tow vehicle, it seems a no-brainier.

Where about's in Devon is the vehicle? Im wondering who i should avoid.... (just the town is fine, or pm me)

+1. I am sure you can do that - it's a 110 after all - by that I mean its not an L322 - so its doable by someone without much experience, albeit slowly... and I am sure the forum can help too....

From what I can see on your photo, the loom parts for the heater fan and engine seem to be in place. So he has done something. Happy to help as much as possible via the forum.

I put some dashboard assembly picks in an album for someone else on the forum a few weeks ago. LINKY. They may be of some use. As the lads say, there is a lot of help on here if you need it. Some on here are wizard with a wiring schematic.

Glad you're gonna have a go.

Do any of the suppliers of looms provide decent instructions which you could download ? ( bit cheeky I know ).

Or has any one on here who has fitted a new loom could scan and email them ??

I went down there Saturday, there were some shenanigans, heated words, head banging and WTF's? Half the bits weren't on the vehicle, no doors, bonnet, roof liner, dashboard, wheel arches, horn wired to wash bottle, no bulkhead plates or cable grommets fitted etc... (I could go on!)
An HGV mechanic 3 units down on the same estate (they don't get on at all, there was fireworks when i called him over!) agreed to sort the electrics and Dash but wanted all the bodywork completed and the truck outside his yard this morning.

HGV mechanic has messaged me and said the truck is now in his unit and will be ready Weds night to collect. Plus he said he would go over it and check that everything that had been done was good.

So as agreed between the three of us on Saturday, I pay HGV man for his time, I pay Original mechanic the remainder of the outstanding amount. Then I get to drive home a 100% working Landy...
