I've got a 97 csw which as most of you know is now a coffee machine. The ride is horrendous and want some new suspension but wondered what weight rate of need.
A csw carries 10 people. My coffee stuff etc. Weighs around 300 kg. Which suspension shall I get for best ride comfort. I don't do much off road but I do tow a fair bit. There's also a twiddle thing underneath which I'm guessing is something to do with suspension.

If the adjuster is at the bottom of the shock, the chances are that it will adjust the rebound response of the damper, i.e. how quickly the damper extends following compression.

I can’t say with any certainty, but I doubt the OEM CSW suspension was spec’d for 10 people all the time – suspension is often a compromise.

I’d be looking at the total weight of your vehicle, including the normal number of people in it, then determine whether this is in excess of the typical load for a 110 or not. If it’s higher, then HD is something to consider. If you decide to change the setup, the spring rates will need to be broadly aligned with the damping ability of the shocks, i.e. really heavy springs won’t work well with very soft dampers.

Looking at your bushes is a sensible thing to do too. Have you got ARBs?

No arbs I'm tho king of changing springs shocks to old man emu and poly bushes. Maybe medium load. I'll have a go at the adjuster first but do t if it'll work.

Do you carry 10 people? I suspect your suspension is too hard. 300Kg in the back of a Landy is nothing, if you stuck 3/4 of a ton of sand in the back I bet it would ride nicely.

If it was me I would simply get a normal duty suspension but not as the parts book claims you need, as it will take into account 10 people in the back. Without the 10 people your landy is dancing about at the top of some pretty hard springs.

That is an accurate description. I'll try the adjuster hopefully it isn't seized up.
