TD4 110 so far with ease. Not taken it past that since I uprated to silicone hoses and blanked off the EGR.

max is about 90 in 300tdi disco. Cruises happily up to about 80, never like to push it past that. Don't want any points, and doesn't have the brakes or handling to recover.

My early 80s mini would cruise at 75-85 even on long motorway journeys. It never really missed a beat, except when it got wet:rolleyes:.

Reminds me of the words of Sir Alec Issigonis who was the designer of the mini, when he was challenged about the safety of his cars in a accident: "I make my cars with such good brakes, such good steering, that if people get into a crash it´s their own fault"

Such nonsense but a good reminder to drive to both the road conditions, and the vehicles ability.

it will do 70 easily.

i don't want points and increased insurance premiums or the hassle a ban would bring
I have to agree, Only times I tend to speed is when I'm stupidly late for work (even then it's hard to push any high speeds with the country roads) or motorway - most i've had is around 80mph on the motorway whilst overtaking lorries in windy conditions (I don't particularly want to be behind them or along side them in those conditions!)

I don't enjoy speeding either, takes a fair bit to pull the Landy up (as i found out whilst traveling at 60ish on the motorway and a caravan driver in front missed his turn and decided to stop on the motorway  much to my surprise!!

That and it drinks fuel! - I'm happy to cruise at 65ish on the motorway.

With a 3" lift, no anti-roll bars, 85 profile mud tyres and the best part of an additional 1/4 of a tonne in off road modifications, my top speed tends to be about 50mph and a very large gap between myself & the vehicle in front!

mines done 104. airfield is your friend. it has brakes that work. and springs that suspend.

although its only done that once. proabbly had a bit more go but the windscreen didnt look like it was staying up for much longer. on the motorway it sits really nicely at 70mph. around 2200rpm (jusged by ashcrofts calculator) not bad for a series 3!

according to them it should do 110 at complete full whack, but its rather harsh on the engine. i dont really exceed 3500rpm even when completely gunning it as theres no gain cos your out of boost by then with a TDI

i have a disco 200tdi and fastest i have took it is 80mph and it didnt sound brilliant (aswell as trying to keep it in straight line!) it will do 70mph but its sat in the boost all the time and eating the fuel so im happy sat at 60-65mph on the motorway and im 23 (only 2 years older then my truck haha) (i try to avoid taking it on the motorway as it wernt built for that it was built for lanes and mud!)

got a 200tdi lump that gets me to 70 at a push... but its at its happiest roaring along at 60. ... 50 up hill in 5th. Its way over due for a service so I expect once I have changed all the oils and filters she will have a tad more oommff under the bonnet. :)

sounds about right mate mines the same i was going down hill when got 80mph!

never again!!!!!!

:D

There's a nice disco td5 on fleabay with tuned engine and all the bits I bet goes well, I mean may have done for a bit as its in spares or repair...........

When I had a 130 tipper 200tdi and changed the tired engine for my old disco 200tdi that was scary 70 in fourth didn't need 5th and to be honest was a different beast.
