How easy or hard are tappets....

I have the rave cd and its just a diagram, seems easy on paper.
I have googled valve adjustment and it describes it all in detail, i am just a bit nervous of getting TDC, i have seen it mentioned about putting the box in 5th then jacking up the front wheel and turning that clock wise to get TDC.
I know i am more than capeable of doing this i just have some reservations of where to start.

I need to check my tappets, having searched , I have found this Thread, however I cannot open the attachment,

Can someone check if it works please, If yes , then my comp is doing funny things and blocking the attachment, if not then can someone please send me the jpg, or post it.

to check tappets you need to remove fan to get11/16 or 27mm wheel nut size socket on crank nut,remove rocker cover ,you need a marker,screw driver ,13 mm spanner ,turn engine till any rocker reches fully open if you miss it go on till next reaches fully open ,counting from front ie 1 adjust 8, 2 adjust 7,3 adjust 6,4 adjust 5, 5 adjust 4 ,6 adjust 3 ,7 adjust 2,8 adjust 1 ,this is called the number nine method as numbers add up to nine, when adjusting slacken nut loosen screw put 8 thou/ .2mm feeler guage in between valve cap and rocker tighten until grips guage but pulls across smoothly,mark each one as adjusted ,
 
Just as a comment - don't do what I did the first time and having gone past the valve fully open position I reversed the engine back to fully open then set the tappet. This resulted in a too small clearance to such an extent that the engine would hardly run and wouldn't pull off at less than 2,000 rpm.
Rotate the engine in its normal direction and as was said above if you miss one continue on to the next.
