The service book has been lost for my car is there anyway to get the history it has alot of landrover service history at various dealerships this will have great effect on resell value without it wont it!

I know Volvo had a main database where they could call history up irregardless of which main stealer did the service and repairs. Maybe it's worth a shot going to your local LR stealer and asking the question.

I have been to local landrover dealer and they say they can only do anything that one of there dealerships have done also rang landrover uk, they do know but will not release info because of info act or somthing all i want to know is what garage my car has been to!

Does anyone on here work or know close freind who works for landrover that might be able to help i will sort you out a decent drink!

LR are probably one of the worst for this, they dont have a national database that dealers can look at. Each dealer can only give you the history of work they did. LR do keep all the records but the data protection act will stop them giving out details.

Do you know where the car was first registered?? shouldn't be too difficult to work out if it's still on the original plates, then ring all dealers in that area and ask if they have a record of this vehicle. Once you know where its been they should be willing to stamp up a new service book, but won't usually give details of specific work carried out. The big problem comes if its been through lots of owners and lived up and down the country.

Or write to DVLA and they'll give you a list of all the previous owners. Then you can phone them and ask where they had the work done.

That's a good un Redhand-never thought of that one-worth a shot. I had a Volvo years ago and took it to a dealer in B'ham for a job to be done and they told me all of the history from new despite the car being sold origionally in Hampshire and having several owners throughout the U.K. All these comanies will find a hole to dive in to when faced with a straightforward question, quoting Data Protection Act or something similar. All they want to do is grab all the cash they can from ordinary Joe Soaps.

not all garages are the same - the sight unseen 19 year old 110 i got off ebay had the remnents of the lake district dealers sticker on the back window from where it was brought - phoned them and asked nicely if they had any history, a week later a bundle arrived containing invoices showing every penny that had been spent on it including a new starter less than a week before i got it

apparently the previous owner had had it from new, never had it serviced anywhere else, always kept it in his garage and every six month took it to the dealer where they sprayed the chassis with some of their "old" oil

so if you dont ask you dont get

Ere, i saw a good lookin bit drivin a rangie the other day, if i pm you her reg, can you tell me her name, address, phone number and stats too?

Int that a bit iffy???

Hi, This thread may be long dead but I have just purchased a defender 300TDI 110 and although I have a print out that shows service history there is only mention of a new timing belt at 71000 miles. The vehicle has been dealer maintained right up to it's current 176000 miles with services but there is no mention of a new T belt or any upgrades to the system.
The dealership has just changed and the new owners are not that helpful. Can anyone help ? Many thanks in anticipation.

Recently purchased a car from the UK and with it was its last MOT, on the back of that document was a DOT website that will give you the MOT history of the car. You will need an MOT certificate for its number and the car Reg Number. Its not service history but very usefull info - why it failed MOTs etc
