How do I know if I have a R380 gearbox ? I need to improve changing gear from 1st to 2nd which is especially bad in cold weather.I have a 2002 model just prior to the face lift.
I want to change the oil to MTF 94 which I see on previous comment on here that is the oil I should be using.

hi, when you engage reverse, if you move the lever to the right, and then rearwards, its an r380 g/box

You'll have an R380 in a TD5 Disco 2.

Hi Malc, MTF 94 is the recommended oil but if you want to improve things try a fill with Difflock's EVO1 oil. It's more expensive but it is very good. You'll need 3 trs to do the manual gearbox.
