Hot Start Problem 300 TDI Auto 1998

I have a 300 TDI that starts fine when its cold and runs fine for as long as you want to drive it, but wont start when its hot.

It has a strange ticking noise from the injection pump when the ignition is on, you can also feel it almost like a shock through the fuel feed pipe into the pump, but it starts ok even with that noise, just not when hot.

Also the engine managment light is on
