Hi, I'm new to the forum but have already found solutions to a few problems. I have a 1995 discovery 3.9 V8 auto, the gear stick on the central console gets very hot, this can't be normal. It's just had the gearbox serviced and there was nothing wrong, plus there's only a cable running from the gearstick to the gearbox so I don't think it could be that. I know someone had a similar problem who posted last year but they didn't say if they ever solved it. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

The selector rod does get hot it's heat from a very hot auto box also the two select bulbs get hot, plus there's heat from two manifolds and exhaust system and the transferbox, i'm so glad I now have air con.

There is also a single selector cable it that's what u mean as ther's no electrical cable between selector and the auto gearbox.
