Horn goes off continuously!

It's bl@@dy freezing in the mountians here in Spain and last night, the horn started sounding continuously----at 11pm----neighbours didn't like it!....re-set the alarm and 10 minutes later it went off again. So I disconnected the battery, just closed the door without setting the alarm, went back to bed, got warm and dreamed of a Toyota (! only joking!). Has this happend to anyone else? ...a continuous horn sounding on a Td5? Any help appreciated - it's a long way to the nearest LR dealer out here...and they don't speak my language!

Think this one has been covered and from memory it turn out it needed a new battery on the car for some wierd reason.

Is it the horn or the alarm sounding, if you disconnected the vehicle battery the alarm sounder would sound continuous via it's own back-up battery assuming that it has a good battery.

Sorry. Should have made myself a little clearer. the alarm was set (as usual by clicking the key bob) and when the horn went off, it was just the horn, I suppose, as there were no lights flashing. To stop it I unlocked the car using the fob and the horn only stopped sounding when I got the key in the starter/steering lock. I then went through the routine of locking it again using the fob, and went back to bed, but, 10 mins later..........!
Only then did I disconnect the battery and did NOT set the alarm ....I could have looked for the horn fuse I suppose, but I was cold, sleepy and fed up (!) ......and now its snowing so it'll have to wait until I can get out there again. Looks like I'll have to use the old wreck of an Isuzu Trooper....no electrics to speak of on that.... think it runs on clockwork...but I do love my Td5!

Hi sat 13th march 2010, yes the same thing is happening to me, out of the blue 11pm horn blasting out ,no lights flashing, opened the car td5 ,thought if I tried to start it the alarm would stop ,car started OK but the horn still blasting out last resort disconnect battery , tried next night not locking the car door ,guess what 11mp horn blasting out again, so at the moment all I can do is every night disconnect the battery, unless someone can help, fingers crossed, could I just disable the alarm.

I did eventually find out why this happened and, quite honestly, I feel somwhat foolish, But as I said it was at night it happened and I was cold and tired!
In reality it was entirely mechanical and nothing to do with the electrics!
In exiting the car, someone (probably my wife as she was the last to use it) must have caught her bag/shopping/clothing on or in the small horn button mounting on the steering wheel spoke. This only showed when I looked closely in daylight and the mechanism was sufficiently dislodged and misaligned to allow the slightest movement to make the necessary contact and set off the alarm. I suspect that at night it was merely gravity that had caused the ensuing electrical contact.
So. I suggest you examine the actual horn button first to see if it has been unseated and or whatever spring it is that returns the button once pressed, is in fact intact and working.
