I have noticed a couple of times when I unlock the car and open the door I get a short beep from the horn. Is this indication I have left the car unlocked or has the alarm been sounding ?
 
if the horn beeps when you lock it, it is telling you something isn't closed. If you get a beeping from the dashboard when you unlock it, it means the battery in the remote needs changing.

Now stop worrying about your freelander and start fighting

Thanks for this info, mine did this today and reading your advice went to look at the tailgate glass and it was slightly lowered, when locked. A good slam of the tailgate fixed the issue and no horn beep when using the remote. Cheers.
