hey there, purchased my black down pipe and joins etc to make my snorkel and i cut it all out blah blah blah, but now im stuck, i was wondering where (once youve cut into the wing top) do you attach the pipe to the intake pipe? cos if i cut through my wing top theres the brake servo and resevoir in the way so i dont see how im gonna get the pipe through there! (if you see what i mean) so i was wondering if anyone had any pics of there engine bay with a homemade snorkel so i can see how they have attached it all up. any help would be grateful!

thanks for that, always forget to mention mines a diesel!! i want to take mine in from the opposite side to where the other vent is in the side of the body, so still dont get how im gonna get the pipe through, that guys one is a petrol so its a bit differet although it did give me some idea, anyone gto a diesel that they've done this too?

has anyone noticed in the picture were it sais finished it shos the standad oil bath filter like the snorkel is just for show how earlier on it actually shows it conected

Hmm. I think the snorkel you posted on that link is horrid. My one isn't exacly pretty but even mine looks better than that one!

And since when has a "guide" been basically to cut a hole in the wing and attach some pipe! If you need a guide to tell you to do that then move onto something else less mind provoking. Like picking belly button fluff.

Like picking belly button fluff.

on the subject of belly button fluff, what tools would you recomend? i tied tweazers but found there is too great a risk of pulling out sensitive belly button hairs! :screaming_bug_eye_f

fair point on the snorkel "guide" though! i'd wouldnt use drain pipe, it'd only take a slight squeaze between trees to crack/shatter that stuff!

OK then :)

Got the snorkel top from ebay for a tenner, got the bottom elbow bit for £8. Random bits of metal and rubber pipes and metal for brackets found in garden etc. Airbox is from an early Range Rover - but reversed the ends to get the direction of airflow I wanted.

Cheers :)

Someone correct me if I am wrong as I have not had a diesel...but the diesel can be the same design as the petrol one - the only difference being the pipes under the engine bay..if that is different at all.

your right, but the problem is i dont want to take the snorkel in from the same side as yours i want to do it from the other side and the problem being my brake servo and resevoir are in the way, so wanted to see how other people have done it!!

if you put the hole for it further forward and as you come up through it do a 90degree turn if you get me to follow it back along the top of the wing or go out the side il find a pic 4 u well try i had one somewere

Cheers :)

Yup, that's right. Any snorkel is only an air intake after all, so the main differences are in where to fit them to existing airboxes/plumbing. ;)
